Everyone should flip off the camera for portraits.

Birds of a feather... Ed and Momus.

Momus (Momus), Thursday, 15 January 2004 03:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Surely that is the very couch I have sat on.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 15 January 2004 03:04 (twenty-two years ago)

And those cables coming out of Ed's computer lead right to where you're sitting now!

Momus (Momus), Thursday, 15 January 2004 03:08 (twenty-two years ago)

(Hopefully his finger doesn't.)

Momus (Momus), Thursday, 15 January 2004 03:09 (twenty-two years ago)

are you wearing hospital clothes, momus? i like the colour of your trousers / pyjamas.

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 15 January 2004 03:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Hopefully his finger doesn't.

I have faith in Ed's digits not being improper with me.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 15 January 2004 03:11 (twenty-two years ago)

wait, is that the Momus coach at Kate's house? Dara told me about that couch...

Kingfishee (Kingfish), Thursday, 15 January 2004 03:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Sta-pressed wonders, thrifted that very week in Portland Oregon with the guidance of E*Rock. Bought by weight.

Momus (Momus), Thursday, 15 January 2004 03:16 (twenty-two years ago)

wait, is that the Momus coach at Kate's house?

My secret is out! Yes, Ed is, in fact, the 'Momus coach'. I check into his indoctrination centre / training camp once every couple of months to get lessons on 'being Momus' and 'staying on message' on issues such as health, welfare, and public transport.

Momus (Momus), Thursday, 15 January 2004 03:23 (twenty-two years ago)

what waist and leg are you? haha can you see where this is going.

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 15 January 2004 03:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know. All I can say is that the photo shows Ed teaching me to make obscene and vulgar gestures. A difficult lesson for one as refined as myself. You will notice that I am attempting to escape into an article about the famous snob, aesthete and dandy, the Comte Robert de Montesquiou, who would never have dreamed of lifting a finger.

Ally, where the hell are you in that picture?

I wouldn't be surprised if you'd also been in my kitchen, seems everyone has. It's in Adams Morgan, the bar I mean, right around the corner from Tom's place. We're going there tomorrow night to the Heaven part to go to '80s night.

Did you go to the BINS?!

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 15 January 2004 04:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Because that place always gives me the creeps; you can almost hear the voices of those who've been molested in its aisles crying out in agony. (Not that anyway has actually been molested in the Bins, as far as I know; it just gives me that vibe. Strongly.)

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 15 January 2004 04:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I found it delicious. I love that mixture of outlandish white trash (the leviathan lady sitting reading the sleevenotes to the Grease album) and the furtive, skinny hip.

Momus (Momus), Thursday, 15 January 2004 04:49 (twenty-two years ago)

ally's gonna flip the bird in EVERY major american city ... next stop, baltimore!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 15 January 2004 04:50 (twenty-two years ago)

(The Bins is the local term for the Goodwill Outlet Store, for those of you playing along at home.)

I see white trash and hipsters mingling all the time. I'm more impressed with the fact that they'll sell you a glass mayonnaise jar that someone has used for painting and which is covered in splotches of white paint. They are trying to take your money for this. Not much of it, admittedly, but still. If it can be considered "clean", in all senses of the word, then they will try to sell it.

More Bins wonders...

Momus (Momus), Thursday, 15 January 2004 05:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I've got a goodwill outlet like 5 blocks from my house. It is wonderous and disgusting, but how can selling items by the pound be anything but awesome?

Dan I. (Dan I.), Thursday, 15 January 2004 05:08 (twenty-two years ago)

If you're trying to buy the lady on the couch there, it could get mighty expensive...

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 15 January 2004 09:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Dammit, there is a picture of me flipping off the camera on the same roll of Gareth's film that has Stevem's hair! Sigh. Dara calls it the Momus Couch? She only slept on it for two nights before declaring that it had Momus cooties and nicking my bed!

the river fleet, Thursday, 15 January 2004 12:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Here's something else that could get mighty expensive. Making this gesture around the wrong people will cost you $18,800:

The pilot, Dale Robin Hirsch, raised his middle finger at police while undergoing the security measures that require United States citizens to be fingerprinted and photographed upon entering Brazil.

Example, kiddies? Telling (or showing) your opinion about security measures can kick you in the pocket.

Bollocks.
