What are you doing in February?

January is kind of a crap month really, at least I think so. February on the other hand is really good for me, clubs get going again, and things begin to go into swing a bit more. Also it's not quite as cold.

This February I intend to go to London for a weekend (or two possibly.) go to see some gigs here in Dublin, the Rapture and just local Dublin stuff aswell.

I also have some exciting writing work coming up. What about you all?

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 21:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I might be going to prague for the weekend, still not sure. i'll have a week or so off at the start of february, before college starts again, so me and lynn might go for a couple of days. i'll probably be working in the shop and attending college for the rest of it. might have some writing work for legues o toole's magazine, but i'm not sure.

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 21:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I was gonna say, with four explination points too.

A Nairn (moretap), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 21:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I can accurately forecast that my Valentine's Day will be spent drinking heavily, listening to Tom Waits, and staring blankly at my phone not ringing.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 21:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO FEBRUARY UNTIL YOU ALL REMINDED ME OF THE EXISTENCE OF VALENTINES DAY.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 21:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 21:41 (twenty-two years ago)

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 21:41 (twenty-two years ago)

when I am more secure in crap press I'll be happy to help.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 21:42 (twenty-two years ago)

...I will probably be in LA for Valentine's weekend.

I am planning a few other things, but don't want to jinx myself by talking about them.

Fat Alberet (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 21:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I will be in LA for Valentine's weekend as I usually am every weekend.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 22:02 (twenty-two years ago)

shivering. drinking beer. hoping that a friend or two comes to town to visit, to help me drink more beer.

Kingfishee (Kingfish), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 22:15 (twenty-two years ago)

what town & what beer?

A Nairn (moretap), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 22:30 (twenty-two years ago)

there's (at least) a couple of gigs in Oxford that I want to go to, The Rapture and Death Cab for Cutie. At the end of the month I'm off to Belgium for a few days, visiting Brussels and Bruges.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 22:36 (twenty-two years ago)

town = the one inhabited by Saturday Looks Good to Me, Wolf Eyes, Chapstik, Dykehouse, Midwest Product, Soundmurderer, and much of Ghostly Records roster.

beer = it varies, but the main one has a blue ribbon on it, signifying that it's a beer of choice.

Kingfishee (Kingfish), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 22:36 (twenty-two years ago)

ah, brussels in february, we had a lovely time there last year.

i saw this thread title and thought "ooh yeah february, surely i'm doing loads of stuff", it only took as long as the thread took to load to realise that, in fact, i have NOWT BOOKED AT ALL yet...

...then again, with march and april being very busy (and not in a cheap way), maybe i should just stay in and play CIV3 all month :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 22:48 (twenty-two years ago)

recording recording recording. helping my ex move out of my house. causing unnecessary dramas for myself. going to a whitehouse gig.

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 22:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Scissor Sisters gig (poss Brum, poss London) and album, Franz Ferdinand album, getting a bloody job, radio at end of month (fingers x'd), sorting out universities, trying to actually review an album. Any album. At all.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 15 January 2004 00:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned, I never knew you were so liberated.

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 15 January 2004 00:54 (twenty-two years ago)

One must start somewhere to achieve enlightenment.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 15 January 2004 00:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, you're not at all doing what I thought then. Nevermind.

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 15 January 2004 00:57 (twenty-two years ago)

working, working, working. going to london, maybe dublin and france. trying to be a better correspondent, trying to be satisfied with music/shoes i currently have instead of compulsively buying new, and trying to drink less (not sure that fits in with travel, though).

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 15 January 2004 00:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, you're not at all doing what I thought then. Nevermind.

There are differing ways to enlightenment, though.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 15 January 2004 00:58 (twenty-two years ago)

and valentines day is on friday the 13th this year!

This comes as a nasty shock, given that we're planning our Valentine's menus for Saturday the fourteenth.

Matt (Matt), Thursday, 15 January 2004 01:04 (twenty-two years ago)

However, once that particular slice of hell is out of the way it's off down south to see the folks. Roll on February.

Matt (Matt), Thursday, 15 January 2004 01:05 (twenty-two years ago)

going to detroit for a couple of days, and maybe dublin & london & manchester.

phil-two (phil-two), Thursday, 15 January 2004 01:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 15 January 2004 01:53 (twenty-two years ago)

phil-two (phil-two), Thursday, 15 January 2004 01:55 (twenty-two years ago)

andrew farrell owes me a drink too.

phil-two (phil-two), Thursday, 15 January 2004 01:55 (twenty-two years ago)

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 15 January 2004 03:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Wearing a warm hat.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 15 January 2004 03:27 (twenty-two years ago)

What are you doing in February?

Suffering from withdrawals, probably. Always happens after I go to a DD concert, and since I'm planning on going to see them locally on the 30th of this month (excitement!), I will probably end up mooning over this, that, and the other that happened at the concert and why can't I have that feeling every day?

Can't think of anything else, though. I might try to see if I can fit in a trip or two to the cinema.

As Sweet As Melody (Dee the Lurker), Thursday, 15 January 2004 03:57 (twenty-two years ago)

bnw, I was going to ask if you were going to that concert!

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Thursday, 15 January 2004 04:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I should be unemployed by then, it'll be awesome!

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 15 January 2004 04:57 (twenty-two years ago)

January and March are more active months for me - theres the Aphex Twin gig in a few weeks and the Wire gig in March - Feb theres only Valentines day which means sweet FA to me and always has, and I might go to the Good VIbrations outdoor rave wot has Moloko, Nitin Sawhney, Asian Dub Foundation and loads of other shit hot stuff playing. But its expensive so I might not.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 15 January 2004 05:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Di is starting a PHD! my goodness, congratulations, etc.

I am hopefully finding somewhere else to live, going to do exciting work (counting snails and helicopter surveys), showin someone from Nepal (by way of Christchurch) around, and maybe going to Raglan, Waitomo, etc to mess around for the long Waitangi weekend.

isadora (isadora), Thursday, 15 January 2004 06:56 (twenty-two years ago)

why thank you, isadora. any chance of you coming to visit dunners in the 2004? ooooh waitomo, are you going to the caves?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 15 January 2004 07:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Caves? Yay, another fun thing to see when I go back! :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 15 January 2004 07:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Okay, I'm seeing both Low and American Music Club, and maybe sqeezing in Papa M and some other shit as well. It doesn't look like such a nothing month after all.

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Thursday, 15 January 2004 08:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Celebrating a birthday on the 23rd (woo hoo) & possibly having a joint party for my b/day & to stick my fingers up to all of the shitty things that have been happening over the past 6 months.
Nothing else planned as yet.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 15 January 2004 09:15 (twenty-two years ago)

We're flying off to San Francisco for a working holiday. G has to go there to do an improv seminar/workshop so we are going to be within the vicinity of the Golden Gate Bridge for Valentine's weekend! This will be the first time I've been to SF - G's been several times so knows it pretty well. I've been advised both by Nath and by Geeta that Amoeba Records is the greatest record shop in the world ever, so no doubt our credit cards will be given a lot of exercise ;-) Watching "Vertigo" to get myself in the mood, atmosphere-wise - wonder how much of the SF of '58 is still standing? Anyway we are going to be there for most of the month and can't wait! :-)

Phoebe Dinsmore, Thursday, 15 January 2004 09:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Buying Franz Ferdinand's album.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 15 January 2004 09:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I will be most likely be paying a rather large tax bill and thus abandoning my plans to visit the States in April, but the latter may yet be averted via the gift of Mentalist Loans

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 15 January 2004 10:18 (twenty-two years ago)

iagtp i should be having a TINY (10-15 mins) DJ mix aired on 'proper FM radio channel' - only ten minutes so not worth shouting about that much, esp. as will end up downloadable anyway - possibly making embarrassed noises on air live in studio as well though, big time baby

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 15 January 2004 10:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Woo, good luck with that stevem!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 15 January 2004 10:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I will be celebrating my birthday on Saturday February 14th with all my single friends. And spending the preceding fortnight subtly guilt tripping my smugly encoupled friends.

I will also be trying and probably failing to smugly encouple myself before the 14th.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 15 January 2004 10:53 (twenty-two years ago)

(all the best ppl have their b/days in February)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 15 January 2004 10:57 (twenty-two years ago)

the Wire gig in March

oh wow, Trayce, I'm so jealous! I've only seen Bruce Gilbert on his own, with his cacophanous cd box.

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 15 January 2004 11:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Lots of studying. Was thinking of going to Devon but realised this is mentalism as it will be cold and rainy and everything is shut.

Don't really celebrate Valentine's Day, which is lucky as I have to come in to work on that Saturday this year, to show around a load of scrotty sixth formers.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 15 January 2004 11:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Not a lot at all, we fly back from Malmo on the first, but other than that it's v v quiet, as just like Steve, March and April are a bit crippling.

chris (chris), Thursday, 15 January 2004 11:31 (twenty-two years ago)

work but also prob get back to soulseek by then and start burning CDs like crazy.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 15 January 2004 11:33 (twenty-two years ago)

the river fleet, Thursday, 15 January 2004 12:13 (twenty-two years ago)

*shrug* dunno, the world is a blank canvas, the page is unwritten.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 15 January 2004 17:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe staying at my current place of employment or in another hotspot of 'commercial work experience', hopefully spending a lot of time behind the wheel of a nice car since at this point, Ghana may be unfortunately be dull enough that I'll spend my Sundays driving aimlessly after spending every Saturday sleeping off my hopefully regular Friday nite drinking action and really, that's about it and hopefully seeing a few nice girls courtesy of the many cousin connections I have here. I may check some of the local music talent but as far as international acts go, the fact that Shaggy played a stadium date 2 weekends ago gives you a clue as to the situation here...

Barima (Barima), Thursday, 15 January 2004 19:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I will be most likely be paying a rather large tax bill and thus abandoning my plans to visit the States in April, but the latter may yet be averted via the gift of Mentalist Loans

Important question steve-where go?

If you say NYC, I will kick you in the groin.

the baby from three men and a baby, but all growed up (nordicskilla), Thursday, 15 January 2004 19:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Looking for work (natch), and filling out school apps for my UK Masters programs.

Envy me, I lead such an exciting life right now....

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 15 January 2004 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Watching "Vertigo" to get myself in the mood, atmosphere-wise - wonder how much of the SF of '58 is still standing?

Quite a lot, surprisingly. Though a lot was also demolished in the 1970s "Manhattanization" of downtown - yes, I've been doing my reading. See the book about Hitchcock and SF (Footsteps In The Fog) for details. I was planning to go around the city filming all the old Hitchcock locations (and making a trip up to Bodega Bay to pay homage to The Birds), but I haven't found the time.

the baby from three men and a baby, but all growed up (nordicskilla), Thursday, 15 January 2004 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Going to see Arthur Lee & Love again. I can't wait!

teeny (teeny), Friday, 23 January 2004 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

teeny (teeny), Friday, 23 January 2004 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I was just about to say Teeny, how much fund are you having at the moment?! Long may it continue pretty lady!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 January 2004 14:10 (twenty-two years ago)

so far things planned are: dinner at the house of commons, cirque du soleil, his dark materials part 1&2, a band that my friend has a crush on one of the guys, matt dc's birthday party if i'm invited, the democrats abroad UK caucus and the 'hook up for dean' valentines party on the 16th that everyone in london should come to because it will be so much fun. woo!

colette (a2lette), Friday, 23 January 2004 14:32 (twenty-two years ago)

jellybean (jellybean), Friday, 23 January 2004 14:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Cool, where's that?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 January 2004 14:37 (twenty-two years ago)

spending some time in SARS friendly areas... HK and ROK

bing, Friday, 23 January 2004 14:42 (twenty-two years ago)

the Scissor Sisters? In Oxford, at the Zodiac. and another reason to be excited is that it doesn't look like they're selling that many tickets at the moment, so the gig might be in the 250 capacity room instead of the 500-capacity room upstairs.

jellybean (jellybean), Friday, 23 January 2004 14:45 (twenty-two years ago)

haha my ratings were great. I'll probably get hit by a bus or something instead.

teeny (teeny), Friday, 23 January 2004 18:01 (twenty-two years ago)
