Allyzay, Thursday, 15 January 2004 16:43 (twenty-two years ago)

is that first pic scene one of playmobil "battle royale"?

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 15 January 2004 16:44 (twenty-two years ago)

my Playmobil castle wasn't as good as that castle. It was of card and had brown walls and you had to construct it yrself. it had wooden tables tho, with plates and candlesticks to go on them.

and the soldiers' helmets were shiny.

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 15 January 2004 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

those guys always cut my hands open and had ascessories that were hard to change.

They looked cool tho

ModJ (ModJ), Thursday, 15 January 2004 16:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm trying to remember what other Playpeople I had 'sides the medieval soldiers in their castle. there were some construction workers and iirc a policeman on a motorcycle.

there were some more, but I can't remember who they were.

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 15 January 2004 16:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Man, I just had "Little People" - with a cylindrical wooden body and a round plastic head - no arms, no legs, no castles. I think I had a French restaurant, though.

andy, Thursday, 15 January 2004 17:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I like the email that went 'round a while back with pictures of the Playmobil people rollin' and smokin' a joint, which of course looked HUGE beside those little folks. The photos were pretty good, actually...

"Hello, we're the Fisher Price Little People! Welcome to our full service garage! Boy, your parents must not love you very much if all they bought you was us! And you must be OLD if you played with wooden toys!!"

andy, Thursday, 15 January 2004 18:45 (twenty-two years ago)

andy, i had one of these. and i am NOT old!!!

stevie (stevie), Thursday, 15 January 2004 18:47 (twenty-two years ago)

At least the garage did something (elevator, cars roll down ramp), I had the barn, which mooed when you opened the door.

Luigi Vampa (Horace Mann), Thursday, 15 January 2004 18:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I always thought that Playmobil was poor man's Lego. Or retard's lego. Or something like that.

may pang (maypang), Thursday, 15 January 2004 18:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Playmobil, Lego for kids who can't be bothered to make shit.

Luigi Vampa (Horace Mann), Thursday, 15 January 2004 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Duplo is the other Lego.

Kingfishee (Kingfish), Thursday, 15 January 2004 19:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I had both the parking garage AND the barn! I R0X0RED!

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 15 January 2004 19:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Aw man, I loved that barn.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 15 January 2004 19:43 (twenty-two years ago)

i had the castle! and the little street scene!

Kingfishee (Kingfish), Thursday, 15 January 2004 19:44 (twenty-two years ago)

The castle was amazing. My friend around the corner had it. He's successful in his career. I while away my empty life on ILX. You do the math, mom.

Luigi Vampa (Horace Mann), Thursday, 15 January 2004 19:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey...I had the same stuff as casuistry...then again, my mom is from Regina, Sask. Could this have something to do with it???

cybele (cybele), Thursday, 15 January 2004 19:46 (twenty-two years ago)

My friend around the corner's mom is from Regina! Are you my friend around the corner?

Luigi Vampa (Horace Mann), Thursday, 15 January 2004 19:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I had the plane and wasn't the treehouse the little people, too?

Kingfishee (Kingfish), Thursday, 15 January 2004 19:50 (twenty-two years ago)

hey Andy,

We found that garage, which I grew up with, at a yard sale this year to give to my kids. It is in mint condition. I couldn't believe it. Oh, and $10. It's probably worth much more on eBay. Hmm...

don weiner, Thursday, 15 January 2004 19:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh no, those were the tree-tots - nevermind

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 15 January 2004 19:53 (twenty-two years ago)

yr kids won't miss what they don't know, Don.

Luigi Vampa (Horace Mann), Thursday, 15 January 2004 19:54 (twenty-two years ago)

The Book of Ratings covers each Fisher-Price Little Person thing.

Kingfishee (Kingfish), Thursday, 15 January 2004 19:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey...I had the same stuff as casuistry...then again, my mom is from Regina, Sask.

I've been there! I don't know if I met your mom, though. Is she pretty?

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 15 January 2004 19:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I've just remembered - firemen! I remember being annoyed coz I didn't have the actual fire engine.

As well as soldiers, there was a king and queen in the castle and the king had a sceptre. It's all flooding back now.

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 16 January 2004 08:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Holy smokes.. I had that garage too. AND I had the airport!! The airport ruled.

Lego was OK, but Meccano was supreme. Hard, though - it was all metal and bolts and even had engines and stuff.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 16 January 2004 12:01 (twenty-two years ago)

L**O PORN MOTHERFUCKERS!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 16 January 2004 15:46 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.cardhouse.com/x07/lilblue.gifTHe Fisher-Price Theatre presents "Catcher in the Rye", by Evan Dorkin.

actually, this entire issue of Dryer is all about the F-P Little People.

Kingfishee (Kingfish), Friday, 16 January 2004 15:53 (twenty-two years ago)

LITTLE PEOPLE WERE NOT MADE OUT OF WOOD YOU BASTARDS.

Allyzay, Friday, 16 January 2004 15:54 (twenty-two years ago)

not true. the earliest Little People were wooden.

http://patriot.net/~marimacc/faq/people/royalfamily.jpg

Kingfishee (Kingfish), Friday, 16 January 2004 16:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, and the original atomic bomb was also wooden. Technology marches on.

Allyzay, Friday, 16 January 2004 16:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Some of us were kiddies in the 70s.

Luigi Vampa (Horace Mann), Friday, 16 January 2004 16:08 (twenty-two years ago)

my fisher price toys were made of plastic, not wood.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 16 January 2004 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I had the Little People barn. And the school, and the bus. The older figures where wooden.

I don't approve of the redesigned Little People, they are biggger and ugly.

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Friday, 16 January 2004 16:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Did anyone have Fabuland Lego?

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Friday, 16 January 2004 16:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Most of the Little People I had in the 70s were plastic, but there were the odd ones that would pop up made of wood. I'm pretty sure those go back to at least the mid-sixties though.
As I recall, from my firsthand experiences, everything in the 70s was either plastic or poop.

Luigi Vampa (Horace Mann), Friday, 16 January 2004 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

i vaguely remember having some fisher price/little people things that were square-ish and plastic.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 16 January 2004 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

http://patriot.net/~marimacc/swartz.jpg

this book probably didn't help things.

Kingfishee (Kingfish), Friday, 16 January 2004 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

but check out the shape on the blonde! she's a fox!
