Is my brain deteriorating and has my ability to type coherent sentences just gone down the shitter?

One of the things I've been noticing the past year while I've been on ILX (and surely some of you regulars have as well) is that while I don't often misspell words, I will often type a different word in its place instead -- which makes me sound like a complete dolt.

I don't do this when I speak.

I'm wondering if any of you have noticed yourselves doing the same thing. It's really strange, and I'm concerned that this is one of the bad side effects of having been constantly in front of a computer as my main protocol of communication and socializing on a minute-by-minute basis. (I do actually socialize in real life. Really I do! I can be backed up here!) Or maybe I'm afflicted with some language/comprehension disorder that makes me type out one word when I mean to type out another. It's gotten to the point where I do this everytime I type, and I'm really worried and sad about it.

(Or perhaps I'm blowing this out of proportion, and I just am too anxious to send out posts before proofreading them first, whereas maybe almost ALL of us do this, but most of you actually double check your posts.)

I think faster than I type. This leads to me sometimes substituting words or misediting sentences. Also I will periodically hit the wrong key on the keyboard and not notice when I scan-check my post because I tend to operate under the assumption that what I think I've typed is actually what I've typed.

ILX adverse to spelling?

I am SO guilty of this. And I want to write for a living!

(Granted, spelling or wrong word substitutions have resulted in some of the greatest ILX moments ever, or at least funniest, so I'm not completely damning this phenomenon)

I'm not going to read the other thread to see if someone's already discovered this, but I think it's x-post avoidance syndrome that has some of us rushing to hit 'submit.'

Aruga aeaer ie.

(It happens to me but I'm a relentless self-editor and catch most of my mistakes, though not all. I'm usually most prone to leaving a word out of a sentence.)
