Is there a list I can peruse?

Basically, if the person is a mate, simply ask em what the date is. Otherwise, keeping an eagle eye out for the b-day threads helps much.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 15 January 2004 23:34 (twenty-two years ago)

The birthday list is housed in mark s' brane.

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Thursday, 15 January 2004 23:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I am using this thread to remind you all that I share a birthday with Brooke Shields. And I want a pony this year.

Darcus How? (nordicskilla), Thursday, 15 January 2004 23:37 (twenty-two years ago)

i think it's frank kogan's birthday today. or at least i got an e-mail from him on the 12th where he said it was his birthday in three days. he may have been lying. If it is: Happy Birthday Frank, Wherever You Are!

scott seward (scott seward), Thursday, 15 January 2004 23:39 (twenty-two years ago)

also some of us saddos have been around here for more than one birthday

And here I thought you liked me, man! (Read that as "nearly 3")

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 15 January 2004 23:40 (twenty-two years ago)

No one knew my birthday, but then again I am not a "mate"

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Friday, 16 January 2004 03:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Once Ned said his birthday was March 14 for some reason and thats like, my birthday, same year n'all, and I almost had a heart attack, but then he said his birthday was some other day in March and I was all sad :(

PS now you all know my birthday. Ha!

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 16 January 2004 03:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Aw. :-)

*grins*

Yesyesyes, the important thing seems to be to get at least one person, preferably a person you've become close friends with, on this forum to know what your birthday is. Then they can start a thread on your birthday and people who find out about it who like you can post to it! I was happily surprised to have been the recipient of one of those threads when my birthday rolled around late last year. (I heartily thank those of you who posted in it, BTW.)

I do think it would be U&K to have a birthday database, though. You know, so that everyone can be acknowledged when their special day comes around.

As Sweet As Melody (Dee the Lurker), Friday, 16 January 2004 04:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Nordique, no one is going to celebrate your birthday if you don't settle on a name. You hear?

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 16 January 2004 07:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Dee is otm. Mine is 23rd Feb, just in case y'all are wondering!!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 16 January 2004 09:04 (twenty-two years ago)

That was my post - it was in the Class of '73 (or '74 or '83 or '69 or or or) thread and I posted my birthday, 14th March 1971, and put "Year of the Raggett" afterwards because I was born in the same year as Ned.

Alfie (Alfie), Friday, 16 January 2004 10:09 (twenty-two years ago)

i was thinking a lil webpage with a calendar on it where when you highlight a date it tells you whose birthday it is might be cool

stevem (blueski), Friday, 16 January 2004 10:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I like that idea, how easy/difficult would that be?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 16 January 2004 10:32 (twenty-two years ago)

A fixed list of who's "in" is and remains a bad idea.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 16 January 2004 10:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Why's that?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 16 January 2004 10:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Qui est "In" qui est "Out"?

Sarah (starry), Friday, 16 January 2004 10:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I think people are thinking of some kind of opt-in scheme, where if you must have your birthday online then so be it, I certainly don't think it's a compulsory list of ILXers who NEED to have birthday threads.

Also this year I am contemplating a HIPPY BIRTHDAY (june 21st and all that) so may be hugging Stonehenge/a tree/Fotherington-Thomas somewhere sans interweb.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 16 January 2004 10:51 (twenty-two years ago)

how do people know? because we fish for birthday-related attention on threads like this one of course!

[that's feb 24 and presents to the antipodes may take 2-3 weeks]

petra jane (petra jane), Friday, 16 January 2004 10:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Gosh I'll start making you a present already. How does a crocheted skinny tie sound? I am making one for myself and am ludicrously excited. I'm gonna be TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL!

Sarah (starry), Friday, 16 January 2004 10:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I think if it's your birthday and no one's started a thread for you, it's just cause no one knows, so you should feel free to start your own thread! *cough* Of course maybe they do know but they don't care, luckily my solution covers that possibility as well.

Poppy (poppy), Friday, 16 January 2004 10:54 (twenty-two years ago)

This from a person that has never posted on anyone else's birthday thread in case they accidentally miss some of the threads and leave people out. Fuck that anyway, I'm going to be a birthday cheer distributor from now on, and if I don't post on your birthing day thread please accept my sincere apologies. (unless of course I hate you! haha) :-p

Poppy (poppy), Friday, 16 January 2004 10:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Right. So, who are you again?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 16 January 2004 11:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Eh, beats me.

Poppy (poppy), Friday, 16 January 2004 11:05 (twenty-two years ago)

That was the 23rd of Feb, in case you missed it! ;-)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 16 January 2004 11:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Also this year I am contemplating a HIPPY BIRTHDAY (june 21st and all that) so may be hugging Stonehenge/a tree/Fotherington-Thomas somewhere sans interweb.

Sarah, I was born june 21st as well, when the night is the shortest and the day the longest. Though not in the same year, probably (it's 1979 for me).

Tuomas (Tuomas), Friday, 16 January 2004 12:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Why is no-one giving proper respect to Mooro who starts lots of birthday threads and know when everyone-he-knows-except-Lara's (which is a lot of people, even if they are just generally people who were on sinister) birthdays are?

There are tons of excuses to point out when your birthday is round here, eg what celebrity do you share a birthday with thread.
