I just ordered Rules of the Game, Blow Up (finally!), Wisconsin Death Trip (based on someone's praise, but I forget who) and Pieces of April, due out this month or next.

I'm most excited by Blow Up, as I've been wanting to see this for ages. With any luck Slacker (Linklater) and Rome: Open City will see DVD release sometime this century, since those are the other two on my wish list.

La Dolce Vita is still unreleased in North America!

Would also like to see a New Order video retrospective.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 16 January 2004 06:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm just hoping that "Blow-Up" comes appended with a slew of extra goodies and cool commentary and whatnot.

And when the fark will Scorcese's "After Hours" see the light of day on DVD?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 16 January 2004 06:20 (twenty-two years ago)

unfortunately, the 'Blow-Up' DVD looks pretty basic, but I haven't read anything official...

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 16 January 2004 06:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd rather watch Blow Out than Blow Up.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 16 January 2004 06:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Although I'd rather watch Blow Up than sit through even one second of Blow.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 16 January 2004 06:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Wasn't Blow Out just a hollow homage to Blow-Up? And if it's sensitive sound-recording suspence you want, nevermind that Travolta shit....go for The Conversation.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 16 January 2004 06:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd rather watch blow job!!!!!!!!!

applepie baseball, Friday, 16 January 2004 07:02 (twenty-two years ago)

No, Blow Out was hollow bloody hyper-stylized homage to Blow Up with John Lithgau and Nancy Allen and it's at least mildy suspenseful and not a complete fuckin' snoozefest like Blow Up (doesn't have the Yardbirds, unfortunately).

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 16 January 2004 07:08 (twenty-two years ago)

a complete fuckin' snoozefest

You shame our first name, San Franciscan.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 16 January 2004 07:11 (twenty-two years ago)

i cant wait for the new mgm bergman box that includes persona!
also on my preorder list are: pickup on south street, rules of the game, scenes from a marriage and le corbeau

todd swiss (eliti), Friday, 16 January 2004 07:12 (twenty-two years ago)

You shame conscious people everywhere, New Yorker.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 16 January 2004 07:22 (twenty-two years ago)

You're seriously extolling the merits of a movie starring John Travolta over Blow-Up. You have to live with yourself, so that's punnishment enough.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 16 January 2004 07:26 (twenty-two years ago)

There are quite a number of movies with John Travolta which are better than Blow Up. The entirety of Welcome Back Kotter is certainly better than Blow Up! Blow Up sucks, sucked, will always suck, never ceases to amazes to me when I think of how much it sucks, etc.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 16 January 2004 07:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, this discussion is clearly over.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 16 January 2004 07:34 (twenty-two years ago)

The Conversation is certainly a better movie than Blow Out btw, but it was eliminated from my breakdown for failing to have blow in its title.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 16 January 2004 07:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Freaks and Geeks? Anyone? Anyone?
