Miami bans sale of "violent" games to under 18s

In other news, Sky/Fox the video game! You report, they decide! Save people from zombies, or gain ratings points by filming them?

As of time of going to press, no response from the people of Chicago about the effect this may have on zombie gamers.

Kids will just buy them online, this is a pointless and stupid law.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 16 January 2004 17:14 (twenty-two years ago)

weren't the first few amendments (as well as the constitution itself) written largely to safeguard the right to violent revolution?

BAHAHAH the name of that game is "Michigan". Set in the insane war-torn wasteland that IS downtown Chicago, no less.

It is a pointless and stupid law, but I do believe that if you're going to rate videogames, you might as well enforce the ratings. I really don't have a problem with this (GIGANTIC CAVEAT AHEAD) as long as the games are still available to adults. (I also think that whatever game a parent wants to buy for their kid is fine; it's his/her child, he/she should take the responsibility of approving a game rated as "adult" as something the child should play.)

To sum up: RATINGS GOOD, BANNING BAD.

Yeah that banning of drugs and/or Luther Campbell 2LiveCrew has done wonders in Miami. Maybe they need to work on getting the coke dealers out of their police/sheriff departments instead of video games.

Liberty City will be much more safe without violent video games, they will be able to just go outside and play Grand Theft Auto without all the virtuality.

Miami is the stupidest dumbest shittiest awfullest rottenest most worthless city in America and BTW aren't we just supposed to call it "Dade County Metro" now that they can't afford to be their own municipality anymore? Don't sink California, sink Florida, please?

insert your own joke here about how GTA: Vice City is set in a fictionalized version of Miami...

Kingfishee (Kingfish), Friday, 16 January 2004 18:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I am all for giving Florida back to Spain or perhaps trading it to Canada, since all so many Canadians seem to like to go there.

We could just annex it as an old people refugee camp reservation.
