miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Saturday, 17 January 2004 22:28 (twenty-two years ago)

So, J**emy P*ven, then...

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Saturday, 17 January 2004 22:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Mulholland Dr. is great, the Ring is quite good and Tank Girl is waaaaay underrated.

But Le Divorce looked downright evil, and I'm not sure I've seen her in anything else.

xpost: Are you saying Naomi Watts is hung like a horse?

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Saturday, 17 January 2004 22:29 (twenty-two years ago)

thread over

err, Saturday, 17 January 2004 22:30 (twenty-two years ago)

i once posted naomi watts in the "who do you fancy?" thread. she's a very attractive lady and a very talented actress. my favourite naomi watts moments are in mullholland drive: she rehearses the scene for her audition with rita, but then she goes to the audition and acts out a completely different, highly seductive take on it. the second one is such a weird scene, she's so wide-eyed and naive up until then. i remember me and my g/f watched that film, and when she woke up i tried to explain what happened in that scene, and she just thought it sounded silly - but it's really powerful when you watch it.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Saturday, 17 January 2004 23:23 (twenty-two years ago)

um i typed that up wrong cos i've been drinking - i meant to mention that my g/f fell asleep for some of it, and missed that great scene.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Saturday, 17 January 2004 23:35 (twenty-two years ago)

She was in Tank Girl??

jaymc (jaymc), Saturday, 17 January 2004 23:47 (twenty-two years ago)

she was Jet Girl! I was totally smitten when I first saw it ...

zaxxon25 (zaxxon25), Saturday, 17 January 2004 23:51 (twenty-two years ago)

She's 34. I like that about acting, that you can get your big break at any age. (Like 34 is old)

Aaron A., Sunday, 18 January 2004 01:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, I'm 34! That's it, I'm calling Jerry Bruckheimer tomorrow.

I love Naomi Watts, mostly for Mullholland Drive (I guarantee you that audition scene is already mandatory viewing in drama and film studies classes the world over -- which is too bad, really, takes the fun out of it), although she's also the best thing about 21 Grams (deeply flawed movie, but man, she's painful to watch -- which is the whole point). I was less impressed with The Ring, but it wasn't her fault. It was just that the whole thing was so slick and relentlessly dour.

She reminds me of Cate Blanchett a little, except that you never make the mistake of thinking Blanchett is weak or lost, while Watts hides her strength until something triggers it and, whammo. I think she's fascinating.

spittle (spittle), Sunday, 18 January 2004 05:47 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't like blonds unless they look weird. she don't look weird.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 18 January 2004 06:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Hotter in Tank Girl, when she gets to use her accent.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Sunday, 18 January 2004 06:08 (twenty-two years ago)

And isn't blonde.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Sunday, 18 January 2004 06:09 (twenty-two years ago)

ModJ (ModJ), Sunday, 18 January 2004 08:01 (twenty-two years ago)

i still know dunners girls athousant tons hotter than this shit

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 18 January 2004 08:03 (twenty-two years ago)

i mnea it ain'tmy fault you got boring taste.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 18 January 2004 08:08 (twenty-two years ago)

oh fuck you

Aaron A., Sunday, 18 January 2004 08:59 (twenty-two years ago)

you wish

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 18 January 2004 09:02 (twenty-two years ago)

haha thank you milo.

I don't usually fancy any actresses (ppl in real life are much more fanciable). The only film I watched her in was 'the ring' remake, which was very good (and I've seen the japanese version and 'ring II') and her being in it was one reason.

Thought she was about 27/28. 34 is a very hot number.

sorry to be boring :...(

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 18 January 2004 09:06 (twenty-two years ago)

i want to see a photo of her in not-blond form.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 18 January 2004 09:13 (twenty-two years ago)

and if i don'ty like her don't take my shit seriously yo. i only like fat chicks.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 18 January 2004 09:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I think she's much hotter on the screen, photos are so dud bcz they just freeze you. As someone who likes david lynch I can't believe I haven't seen mullholland drive yet. I must do this soon.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 18 January 2004 09:32 (twenty-two years ago)

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Sunday, 18 January 2004 09:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I used to fancy her when she was in a wheelchair in Home & Away but I don't fancy her much anymore. I don't think this makes me sick. She's a very good actress.

N. (nickdastoor), Sunday, 18 January 2004 13:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I love how she always looks like she's got nuts in her mouth. If you squeezed her face I bet you'd get some weird, wonderful facial girl-cum.

Le Coq (DarrenK), Sunday, 18 January 2004 16:41 (twenty-two years ago)

But I'd be happy with cookie-dough!

Le Coq (DarrenK), Sunday, 18 January 2004 16:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not sure what to make of that.

N. (nickdastoor), Sunday, 18 January 2004 16:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Fine then, vomit it is. *gives up*

Le Coq (DarrenK), Sunday, 18 January 2004 16:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Overrated.

I have been in the same room as Naomi Watts.

East Bay Crackhaus (nordicskilla), Sunday, 18 January 2004 16:47 (twenty-two years ago)

East Bay Crackhaus (nordicskilla), Sunday, 18 January 2004 16:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Ooh, you and 600 people, big whup. Can't a girl have a bukkake past?

Le Coq (DarrenK), Sunday, 18 January 2004 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

My brother also farted near Rod Stewart once.

East Bay Crackhaus (nordicskilla), Sunday, 18 January 2004 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

So has Rod Stewart. Try harder, namedropper!

Le Coq (DarrenK), Sunday, 18 January 2004 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Its not very impressive is it?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 18 January 2004 17:17 (twenty-two years ago)

It's no J3r3my P1v3n story, that's for sure.

East Bay Crackhaus (nordicskilla), Sunday, 18 January 2004 17:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I think she's pretty but have you ever noticed her hands? She has claw-like old lady hands which looks weird on a younger person. I was very distracted by this when I watched The Ring.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Sunday, 18 January 2004 17:55 (twenty-two years ago)

*flounces off*

Hey, pay royalties there.

Plastic surgery in reverse. Grafts from donors.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 18 January 2004 17:56 (twenty-two years ago)

crikey diablo I did not notice but that is another reason to like naomi watts.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 18 January 2004 17:58 (twenty-two years ago)

she is so unbelieveably hot and electrifying when she is allowed but i have made up my mind to not see that new one 21 grams which looks like exactly the kind of bullshit that will leave me moping for a week besides the title is based on a bit of made-up nonsense and it's difficult to sustain self-importance in the face of THAT without being laughed at so hahaha

amateur!st (amateurist), Monday, 19 January 2004 10:25 (twenty-two years ago)

when she is allowed

Examples?

the icebox (nordicskilla), Monday, 19 January 2004 10:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Seen the new issue of whatever they're calling what used to be Movieline? My wife spotted the pictures and cracked, "Nipples are the new black." Maybe you had to be there.

Lee G (Lee G), Monday, 19 January 2004 17:44 (twenty-two years ago)

i was reading some old maxim in the john at work the other day and this scientist apparently did some kind of study of ratios and proportions or other science shit and found out that liz hurley had the world's most perfect face based on symmetry or something.

Change it again and she's Nicole Kidman, before Nicole Kidman went nuts on plastic surgery and turned into Jack Nicholson.

I have just coughed up a gin and tonic for laughing so hard.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 23:51 (twenty years ago)

surgically enhanced or otherwise, she's begun to make a career of playing actresses, no?

-mulholland drive
-i heart huckabees
-ellie parker
-king kong

and the lynch connection, esp. per the famous casting scene, is no accident--she's one of them superemoters, like, say, laura dern. unsurprisingly, the cavalcade of reaction shots that comprised her "part" in king kong had me exhausted inside an hour. (not really her fault, but saw it coming.)

those, Tuesday, 3 January 2006 23:58 (twenty years ago)

What the fuck kind of scientist sits around all day jerking off to pix of Liz Hurley to write an article about her symmetry? That's not really science, even with my lame ass definition of science.

Allyzay must fight Zolton herself. (allyzay), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 00:03 (twenty years ago)

I was trying to figure out the best way to say pretty much exactly that but I knew that if I waited long enough Ally would say it for me.

Wait wait: maybe that Naomi Watts photoshop job was INTENTIONALLY artificial-looking. The inset box is all about CG:

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 00:26 (twenty years ago)

i really don't think that looks photoshopped. it's just the hunched shoulders... i suppose the resulting disappearance of her neck could lead one to believe the head had been pasted on.

I know this is a thread about Naomi Watts, but as long as we're posting bizarro magazine covers, here's one I did not really see coming --

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v134/tracerhand/pharrell_deneuve.jpg

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 02:11 (twenty years ago)

Fun fact: Her father, Peter Watts, was a roadie for Pink Floyd, and it is his creepy laughter you hear all over Dark Side of the Moon. He later died of a heroin overdose.

shookout (shookout), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 03:53 (twenty years ago)

i heard that before! pretty cool. (not the overdose part, tho.)

miss michael learned (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 03:55 (twenty years ago)

which of those facts was "fun"?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 06:14 (twenty years ago)

It's not just the hunched shoulders, it's also the lighting, and the way the t-shirt is kind of unnaturally...nipped in in weird spots. It's a bad, obvious photoshop job. Though if that was the point then so be it!

Also wtf is that French magazine on??! I love completely inexplicable magazine covers.

Allyzay must fight Zolton herself. (allyzay), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 16:13 (twenty years ago)

Pharrell and Deneuve are about to do it, duh.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 16:17 (twenty years ago)

Am I the only one who thinks Naomi resembles Samantha Fox?

Je4nn3 ƒur¥ (Je4nne Fury), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 16:23 (twenty years ago)

Jayzus! this thread! those pictures!

the bellefox, Wednesday, 4 January 2006 16:24 (twenty years ago)

Samantha Fox was a much more robust girl though.

Allyzay must fight Zolton herself. (allyzay), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 16:25 (twenty years ago)

the 12 year old in me will not let this comparison stand.

cancer prone fat guy (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 16:27 (twenty years ago)

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 16:28 (twenty years ago)

Oh God, I want to die now.

Dan (The Precise Moment When I Jumped The Shark) Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 16:30 (twenty years ago)

This is true. She was much more robust. And she had bangs, too.

Je4nn3 ƒur¥ (Je4nne Fury), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 16:31 (twenty years ago)

Now I really want to die because I've got Ricky Martin stuck in my head.

Dan (The Woman's Got One Thing On Her Mind) Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 16:33 (twenty years ago)

Tuomas's new e-mail address keeps making me think he's an impostor, for some reason.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 16:33 (twenty years ago)

The word "robust" makes you want to die??

Allyzay must fight Zolton herself. (allyzay), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 16:33 (twenty years ago)

jaymc do you really monitor ilxors email addresses that closely?!

cancer prone fat guy (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 16:34 (twenty years ago)

Dan, things could be worse. You could be thinking of the William Hung version.

Je4nn3 ƒur¥ (Je4nne Fury), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 16:35 (twenty years ago)

It was actually making the exact same joke as Tuomas but it's more interesting if it's the actual word "robust" made me want to fling myself out of a window.
