The last time I saw any part of the Golden Globes they had Shirley McClaine talking about Babs Streisand's amazing sense of smell while Babs and James Brolin smiled on the other side of the split screen. I'm glad I randomly caught that.

Did my ears deceive me or did both Sofia and Bill forget to thank Scarlet? Add to that two high profile losses in the cards and you've got one bummer of an evening for Scarlet Johansson.

Highlights so far: The Office took best comedy, best actor, and Jesus and the Mary Chain's "Just Like Honey" played while Bill Murray walked up to the stage. And Gavin Friday is in the audience (nominated for, but not the winner of, best song, which went to Annie Lennox). Not bad for the Golden Globes, IMO.

OK the guy from The Office was pretty funny but Clint Eastwood's deadpan "I may not look like Sean Penn... but I am" was the best line of the evening for me.

I got misty-eyed when they played "Just Like Honey"!

Young actors who get nominated for two awards almost always walk away empty-handed. But in the Oscars, generally one gets a Best Supporting something when this happens.

Has anyone put a longshot bet on Bill Murray winning an Oscar already? I've no opinion on whether it is deserved or not, but the 'awards mentality' suggests his number's coming up.

Marychain THEME MUSIC? Hahahaha feeling very old (a friend of mine and Nick's is one of the girls who sang backup on that; check your sleeves, she's called Laurence).
