Trio's Parking Lot series

Based on an idea Jeff Krulik has been running with for nearly 20 years now, Trio's new Parking Lot series drags its cameras to assorted fan gatherings across the USA -- tailgate parties, ticket lines, clusters of weirdos outside convention centers.

Episodes 1 and 2 aired last night:

Episode 1
Motorhead Concert, Cher Concert, Sci Fi Convention

Episode 2
50 Cent Concert, Yanni Concert, WWE

Some segments were better than others, but I was absolutely blown away by the one that took place outside a Motorhead concert at Asbury Park's Stone Pony club. If the southern Priest fans in HMPL were nihilistic '80s burnout youths, the Motorhead fans were 40-something Docs 'n' tats loudmouth Jersey metal-punks leftover from a bygone era. It was really pretty special.

Episode 5

And much in the same way that Neil Diamond Parking Lot is even more frightening and ridiculous than Heavy Metal Parking Lot, the Yanni segment blew my mind as folks discussed their Yanni obsession with as much intensity (if not more) than your typical Slayer hesher.

I felt for the little girl at the sci-fi con ("I think this is my third or fourth convention ... okay, it's my ninth"; "Am I a fan? No... I do this cuz my dad likes it"; "No, there aren't a lot of people my age here; in fact some weird stuff goes on here that kids probably shouldn't be exposed to... I just try not to think about it").

She's gonna be SO screwed up in her adult life. Her dad should start putting away for those therapy bills NOW.

seven months pass...
I just saw this tonight -- they reran the first episode, the Motorhead/Cher/Sci fi one -- it was great! Are there other good ones, or does it go downhill from here? Should I keep watching?
