This is a thread for posting your favorite obscure curse words from any language other than english.
I'm especially looking for curse words in Nigerian. All I know is "mugu" is that one is getting old.

"Vittu" is the Finnish equivalent of "fuck", though it means "cunt" literally. I know dozens of other curse words in Finnish, obviously, if you're interested in 'em.

"Skit" is "shit" in Swedish, and if you're pissed off to someone, you can say "skit i dig!", which is equivalent to "fuck you!".

Oops, my Swedish is a bit rusty. Can you say "det gör jag skit i"? Or is it "det gör jag fan i"?

By the way, the Finnish word "vittu" comes from "fitta", if I'm correct. I understand all your other curse words, but what's "kuk"?

It's "det skiter jag i" and "det ger jag fan i"! And kuk is cock, I'd have thought that was the most obvious one! :-) I've heard that both vittu and fitta means something along the lines of "damp meadow" which is kind of nice.

In Finnish the ultimate meaning of "vittu" is "pussy" (as in "vagina"), though it's used as an all-purpose curse word kinda like the English "fuck". But are you saying "fitta" is a "damp meadow" in Swedish? Actually, that's not so far from the Finnish meaning...

No, fitta means cunt in Swedish, I mean that the original meaning of the word, a long time ago, was "wet meadow", and that it was used as a word for vaginas in some sort of metaphorical sense, until it eventually became a curse word instead of a nice word for female genitalia.

I learned today that the German for arse-licker is Aschkriecher (arse-creeper). Sounds teeth-gnashingly to-the-point, like all good German words. cf Finnish, the only word I know in Estonian is vit.

When I went to an Arabic speaking country I was very worried that I would want to say "I would like to buy a bottle of water, please", but would misremember how to say this as "Kess Matouk!", with disastrous consequences.

That means "damn cunt", by the way, though I think "jävla" comes from the word "djävle", which means "the devil". In Finnish (and Swedish) there are many curse words which refer to the devil. For example, "perkele", "saatana" and "piru" are all common swear words, and they're all different names for the devil. A common curse is also "Jeesus Perkele!" which translates to "Jesus Satan!".

Skiing (not snowboarding, but skiing on straight ground) was a historically important way of moving in Finland, because of the long winter and long distances in the countryside; it's still a popular sport. That's why there are many ski-related curses, besides "Suksi vittuun!" you can say "Suksi kuuseen!" ("Go ski to a fir-tree!") or "Suksi helvettiin!" ("Go ski to hell!").

"peach-ka", or pitchka perhaps, is either croat or macedonian. The kids across the road always yelled "pitchka glava!" and "tikfa glava" at us (cunt head and pumpkin head, if memory serves?)

the italian word for 'cuckold' is 'curnuto'.
Also, a pretty nasty italian curse is 'mortacci tua' (roman slang), which means that you are actually throwing a curse on someone's ancestors. A very common cursing modus in Italy.

russian: (stressed syllable is italicised)

blyat! - is pretty much the worst word yo can say. It means bitch, whore etc but as an ejaculative (har har), tis just like Fuck!. It has spawned many euphemisims, the mopst common is "Blin!" (eg in the style of shit/sugar/sheesh etc), which as any fule knows mean 'pancake', or more accurately 'blin'.

pizda - cunt. not heard many people say this. in a cute epsiode in russia, I taught some russian kids 'cunt', and they responded with 'pizda'...

gavno/dermo - shit. not sure what the difference between these two are. maybe ones a noun and the other an adj.

chlen dick. literally, 'member' (see el miembro above). as in "chlen komiteta", "member of the committee". sounds a bit coy to me so for a better word try....

khui! this is more like it. def. dick/cock etc. this leads to:

idi na khui Fuck off! (lit. go ride a dick). Khui is a dick. This can also "poshol ty na khui", with same meaning whihc, if used with right intonation, can be reduced to "poshol ty", which should mean a much milder "be off with you" or something similar. I was neever sure of mu ability to make the subtle diffeence, so i tried to use other means to disperse weirdos, khuligani etc.

this is a good one Kozel!!! (e sounds like 'yo' here) . lit. Goat. but seems to be Bastard or similar. First encountered in taxi...."Putin - Kozel!"..easy to say with extreme disparaging tone.

Chort . Name for the devil. as ejaculative means "damn/shit". Gives rise to "K chortu", lit "go to hell".
