I like olives in just about anything. And, come to think of it, this is YOUR fault, dammitt, Starr!

(Thank you, BTW)

However much I love olives, I can't help but feel putting olives in a martini is only hindering my gin consumption.

Funny, I was thinking about this yesterday. Why is the frickin' olive supposed to be in there anyway?

the olive robs the martini of precious gin!

olives in their proper context however, as kate refernces (with wine/tapas/stories about dmt) are classic.

Jethuth Crith, it's there to give you something to eat so that you can continue drinking without fainting due to lack of nourishment, of course. Ask them to use pickled onions if the olives offend you.

I actually read this as "Obafemi Martins C/D", and was all ready to post some pictures of the nippy Nigerian.

We all need to get nutrition from somewhere. (See also maraschino cherries, lemon slices, lime juice and complementary packets of salted nuts)

Green olives are wonderful in martinis. They remind me of the taste of something else altogether :)

I like olives; it's the gin martinis I have trouble with. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to learn to appreciate these?

Just take the olives out and eat them, and give the gin martinis to me j.lu!
