Getting ready to move. Moving sucks.

Can I get some moral support?

This can also be a "Moving: C/D?" thread if you wish.

scott seward (scott seward), Saturday, 31 January 2004 15:00 (twenty-two years ago)

when we moved last august we had almost filled our u-haul when we realized that we had, like, half an apartment left to pack. we took almost everything out of the truck and started over. it was long and brutal and it makes me shiver. the time before that when we were only moving like 5 blocks we paid people to do it and it was the best money i ever spent in my life.

jeez, i'm sorry. moral support, moral support:Good Luck! Once it is over it's a big relief! Are friends helping you? make them help you.

and make sure u have clean T-shirts for them at your new place. your first "get to know the neighborhood" task should be scouting for pizza and beer with them.

I just moved last weekend. It was fun having friends help out but it was still a massive dud, especially with the cold weather. If I ever move again I will just burn everything before I go so I won't have to bother hauling anything.

Having moved so often in my life, I actually look forward to setting things up in a new spot, you get to custom design things. But preparation and packing and actually hauling things around -- and as my friends know all too well, I have a lot of stuff -- can be a bother, putting it mildly. But friends do help take the sting off it and if you can get enough of them together -- *and* if you make sure you obsessively pack beforehand, which I always do -- it can go pretty damn quickly.

Its me and my friend Luke. Notice there are only two people mentioned...two. Fun times ahead.

Ive moved plenty of times, and continuously signing up for 1-year leases is like getting slapped in the nuts every 11 months or so.

El Spinktor (El Spinktor), Saturday, 31 January 2004 15:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, the 2-foot snow barriers into the parking lot is going to make for exciting adventures. Certainly wont help the situation.

All my friends have to work this weekend, yay.

Dio for America!

Though there has been some criticism over the past few days that some of Dio's on-stage gestures are a little "over the top" or "too dramatic" for consumption by the masses of non-rocking regular voters, we here at Dio for America Headquarters feel very strongly that the world is ready to embrace the Devil's Horns, and we asked the candidate himself for his thoughts on the matter.

oh man, I've never moved in the winter...it's always been in a nasty humid midwestern summer, but I'd take that over winter. When we move to St Louis in six months or so, mr teeny's new employers are paying a moving company thank goodness. Good luck Spinktor! The Dio will help a lot.

teeny (teeny), Saturday, 31 January 2004 16:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll probably take an ax to my couch rather than try to get it down the damn stairwell. DUD.

I've given away at least 3 couches now in lieu of moving them.
