One for the Brits then.

CRW (CRW), Thursday, 29 April 2004 15:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Never did take off in America though.

CRW (CRW), Thursday, 29 April 2004 16:04 (twenty-two years ago)

That's a sad story you got there bub.

dean!dean!dean (deangulberry), Thursday, 29 April 2004 16:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm torn between applauding the fact that the UK/Europe is less uptight about casual nudity than in the USA, and denouncing the ridiculously blatant objectification of women. In the largest-selling newspaper in Britain, no less!

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 29 April 2004 16:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Blatant objectifying - explain.

CRW (CRW), Thursday, 29 April 2004 16:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Jim Hacker, PM: I know exactly who reads the papers. The Daily Mirror is read by people who think they run the country. The Guardian is read by people who think they ought to run the country. The Times is read by people who actually do run the country. The Daily Mirror is read by the wives of the people who run the country. The Financial Times is read by people who own the country. The Morning Star is read by people who think the country ought to be run by another country. The Daily Telegraph is read by people who think it is.

Sir Humphrey: Prime Minister, what about people who read the Sun.

Bernard: Sun readers don't care who runs the country as long as she's got
big tits.

Michael White (Hereward), Thursday, 29 April 2004 16:12 (twenty-two years ago)

FAP, sometime, c-man?

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 29 April 2004 16:13 (twenty-two years ago)

We've tried this before and you always say you're too busy. I don't know if I want my heart broken again.

CRW (CRW), Thursday, 29 April 2004 16:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Dud. If you want to look at tits buy a porn mag. I can't see the worth of The Sun still including it. Page 7 Fella didn't seem to be quite as popular - hmmm. On the other hand the description that goes with the girl was sometimes great (in keeping with The Sun's general mastery of the punnish headline) e.g. 'Jenny Foster, 22, used to help her Dad out on his fruit and veg stall. Men queued up to savour her ripe melons and she was always keen to give tips on how to get your gums round the plums. She also has massive tits' or something)

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 29 April 2004 16:14 (twenty-two years ago)

it is true; I am a busy man.

maybe june, sometime, though?

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 29 April 2004 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

They don't do that any more stevem! Since Rebekah Wade took over, the Stunna gives her views on a news issue of the day. Such as "Sexy Melanie Davies, 19, thinks that it's a disgrace that NHS waiting lists are going up due to asylum seekers. "My grans's waited three years for a hip-op"."

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 29 April 2004 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

My fave was Sammi Jessop, but I liked Jo Guest as well. Don't know any others, but can't remember an mingers (oh sheesh - Tracy Coleman, she was hot. That just popped into my mind so we're talking a good 12 years ago now).

RG - you got my email.

CRW (CRW), Thursday, 29 April 2004 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

okay, cool.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 29 April 2004 16:17 (twenty-two years ago)

This might have turned into an interesting thread with much intellectual and cultural debate about sexism and classism, etc. had it been started by someone else.

Ah well.

Super-Kate (kate), Thursday, 29 April 2004 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Blatant objectifying - explain.

There's a large photo of a topless woman for men to ogle.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 29 April 2004 16:23 (twenty-two years ago)

it's only twenty-one minutes, old, Super-Kate.

try to be a bit more positive.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 29 April 2004 16:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Kate OTM - I was quite looking forward to it (see: objectification vs inofensive part of modern Britsih signifiers "she's as English as the perky smile and pert breasts of Debbie, 23, from Romford in the pages of the Sun."), but ... troll bait.

Reclaim the thread anyone?

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 29 April 2004 16:24 (twenty-two years ago)

It just goes along with my whole thing of "people who are the first to leap up and down and protest when there is any kind of classism are so often guilty of the most horrendous and utterly un-called-on sexism" trip.

But I don't want to feed the troll, yeah, yeah, girls like money, etc. blah blah I fucked yer novel.

(I cannot stop saying that, it is the best insult ever!)

Super-Kate (kate), Thursday, 29 April 2004 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Naked woman to look at = sexism? Oh dear. We are a bit Andrea Dworkin today aren't we?

CRW (CRW), Thursday, 29 April 2004 16:30 (twenty-two years ago)

dnftah

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Thursday, 29 April 2004 16:30 (twenty-two years ago)

"people who are the first to leap up and down and protest when there is any kind of classism are so often guilty of the most horrendous and utterly un-called-on sexism"

You appear to have put "classism" and "sexism" the wrong way round in that sentene, Kate.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 29 April 2004 16:31 (twenty-two years ago)

it's true both ways round dom

mark s (mark s), Thursday, 29 April 2004 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't blame girls at all for Page 3. It invariably leads to famous, rich husbands (i.e Lelanie Dowling) and, thus, cars and money. The only people that get annoyed over Page 3 are those that can't see themselves being accepted for it.

CRW (CRW), Thursday, 29 April 2004 17:24 (twenty-two years ago)

The only people that get annoyed over Page 3 are those that can't see themselves being accepted for it.

Do you *seriously* believe that to be the case, Calum?

stevie (stevie), Thursday, 29 April 2004 17:31 (twenty-two years ago)

what are you doing, stevie??

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 29 April 2004 17:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Meet Ze Monsta

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 29 April 2004 17:33 (twenty-two years ago)

No I don't believe it. But in some cases it is true.

P.S. Still posting on my threads Ned, when you're too yellow to get lippy to my face. Yer a wee wanker.

CRW (CRW), Thursday, 29 April 2004 17:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha ha.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 29 April 2004 17:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Page 3 is harmless IMO.

CRW (CRW), Thursday, 29 April 2004 17:34 (twenty-two years ago)

That was a ha ha to RJG's post, btw.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 29 April 2004 17:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Sure.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Thursday, 29 April 2004 17:36 (twenty-two years ago)

It alerted me to Ned's x-post, and I thought 'OK', but then it went a step too far.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 29 April 2004 17:39 (twenty-two years ago)

it's really funny seeing the photos of CRW and remembering how he threatened to 'lamp Ned one'

Page 3 is not only harmless, it is extremely fucking POINTLESS, as is this thread. what can possibly be learnt here of any worth?

stevem (blueski), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I heard Sam Fox is a lesbian now, possibly in direct response to her original fanbase

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)

What so you mean pointless? How can any thread that involves the lovely and talented Joanne Guest be pointless? And Page 3 is hardly POINT-less. POINT-less. Geddit?

CRW (CRW), Saturday, 1 May 2004 01:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Fucking worst post ever d00d.
Reedeem yourself off a high cliff now.

..., Saturday, 1 May 2004 01:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Look, it's low brow comedy stalker boy. Now off and rummage through my dustbin... is that you're car sitting outside my house?

CRW (CRW), Saturday, 1 May 2004 01:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I knew who started this before I opened it. Blah.

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 1 May 2004 01:36 (twenty-two years ago)
