Kayaking

Who's been kayaking? Did you enjoy it? Where did you go? How much did it cost? Does anyone go regularly? How safe is it? How easy is it?

I've quite fancied going kayaking/canoeing for ages, and in about three weeks I'm probably going to do so. What advice does anyone have? It'll be on a slow moving river/canal.

I go kayaking regularly, both sea kayaking and on (slow-moving) rivers. Kayaking is simple as long as you are not in rough waters, then you need to learn how to roll. I bought a small sit-on-top used for $300.

I used to go canoeing when I was at school - in the sea off St Andrews and on some local rivers. It's great fun, and if 15-year-old me can cope with it, you'll be fine.
