NYbound, Monday, 7 June 2004 15:25 (twenty-two years ago)

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 7 June 2004 15:28 (twenty-two years ago)

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 7 June 2004 15:29 (twenty-two years ago)

ARE YOU A TRIPSTER?!?!?! OMG WTF LOL

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 7 June 2004 15:29 (twenty-two years ago)

apparently there are some whores on 14th st and 10th ave who aren't really whores, and aren't ladies. i never knew whores are supposed to be ladies, though.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 7 June 2004 15:34 (twenty-two years ago)

you've never seen brooklyn, but you are moving there because your friend gave you the thumbs up, and you have no idea where in brooklyn you are actually moving?

brooklyn is a large place.

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Lucky bastard.

TOMBOT, Monday, 7 June 2004 16:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought this thread was about someone who was stuck in nyc and couldn't get out, like people who are housebound.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:04 (twenty-two years ago)

That describes everybody in NYC.

nabisco (nabisco), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:05 (twenty-two years ago)

It's all so clear now. Nabisco, you must tunnel away.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:10 (twenty-two years ago)

ah fuck.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:11 (twenty-two years ago)

hstencil beat me to it. Burritoville, buddy, Burritofuckingville.

Sammy's Noodle Shop is my favorite Chinese - it's walking distance from Fat Beats.

Lots of beautiful women.

The only record store in Brooklyn's hip area sucks.

For me, I wouldn't live in New York City if they gave me the whole dang town. But lots of people seem to enjoy it here. I'm leaving in August.

roger adultery (roger adultery), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:17 (twenty-two years ago)

roger, we haven't seen you on any other of the burrito-ville-love-threads

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

haha, I have Burritoville napkins on my desk to hold up to the screen

gabbneb (gabbneb), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

am I the only person who prefers Harry's Burritos to Burritoville?

Allyzay, Monday, 7 June 2004 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

No!

TOMBOT, Monday, 7 June 2004 16:20 (twenty-two years ago)

The only record store in Brooklyn's hip area sucks.

hahaha do you mean Park Slope or Williamsburg? Because there's more than one store in both (I think - although maybe I'm forgetting that Holy Cow closed).

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I have not had Harry's as it's not near my work.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Depends on the moment, Ally.

(NB Ally, I don't have your email and need to tell you something. You'll want to hear this. Mail my pfork address or something.)

nabisco (nabisco), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I just ate lunch and now am starving again.

TOMBOT, Monday, 7 June 2004 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

i like harry's. i don't think i've ever had burritoville.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

WHA WHA WHAT. there are 12 locations throughout our fair city. you are next to one.

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:23 (twenty-two years ago)

harry's is the same as benny's, basically. all of the places mentioned are gross in their own way, but burritoville has the mega soy and tvp sloppy joe and fake chorizo so it has my heart.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

plus cutty's fauxican girlfriend.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

That describes everybody in NYC.

You're not that bad off, Nabisco, as long as your feet are in working order. Take it from one who knows....

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

There was a Burritoville near my old apartment as well as a Harry's and I just felt the need to go there far more often, and since they also deliver I never really ordered anymore from Burritoville...

nabisco, I don't have your pfork address??? I lost everyone's emails when i got a new computer. my email is alk2102 @ columbia.edu. I actually have put it in "my email address" for this post so you can utilize the EMAIL FORM.

Allyzay, Monday, 7 June 2004 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

lauren: i haven't been brave enough to try the route 66. don't ignroe the tempeh burger wrap, though.

i have heard many stories of the wondrous chorizo-bomb that follows.

when is BURRITOVILLE FAPPAGE

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:31 (twenty-two years ago)

My B'ville preference may have to do with living three blocks from them during h.s. I'll have to investigate Harry's, but right now I'm a little too preoccupied with mex-mex Taco Taco.

The Nassau Street outpost of Burritoville plays really great music almost all the time, mostly mixed electronic stuff with some norteno thrown in. I haven't heard it at other locations, but they say they get it from a central office.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:31 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, it's all from the metrosexual chelsea boy's head office

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:31 (twenty-two years ago)

it's usually crap like Basement Jaxx - much better when the workers actually take control of the PA and put on some norteno.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

the fake chorizo is the saltiest, greasiest stuff ever, and it's an evil glowing maroonish-orange color. absolutely stunning.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I love ILX, somebody asks about what up in Brooklyn and it turns into "these are where I like the burritos" and "the music in that burrito place is best when it is more obscure"

TOMBOT, Monday, 7 June 2004 16:41 (twenty-two years ago)

there are NO burritoville's in brooklyn unfortunately

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:43 (twenty-two years ago)

please extract the apostrophe from that sentence

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Brooklyn is over anyway, it said so in the Village Voice.

Allyzay, Monday, 7 June 2004 16:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Once I was in Burritoville, 2nd Ave & 9th st.

They were playing RIDE THE FUCKING LIGHTNING.

I'm just sayin.

and if anyone even says anything GOOD about El Loco Burrito, you're gonna see me.

ddb (ddb), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:45 (twenty-two years ago)

the grand bakery on the corner of graham and grand in wmsburg is open 24hrs to cater to your avocado taco/huevos rancheros needs.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

really? i was not aware of this

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:50 (twenty-two years ago)

dude Basement Jaxx is obscure not only to most Americans, but to most Mexicans too.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, second lauren's recommend of Gran Mostelo or whatever it's called at Grand/Graham. Also, Castro's rules burritos in my hood g.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:52 (twenty-two years ago)

dudes, that place looks SHAY-DEE!

ddb (ddb), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Gran what's-it-called or Castro's?

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:54 (twenty-two years ago)

shady lookin' maybe, but deeee-licious. stay away from the normal diner food, though. it's rank.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

And norteno isn't obscure at all.

Annoying, but not obscure.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:59 (twenty-two years ago)

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 20:42 (twenty-two years ago)

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 17:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I was chemical market reportering, sorry.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 18:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I had Burritoville yesterday too. 2nd ave in the hizzouse (although they found a dead woman in a steamer trunk over in a vacant lot over the weekend... just like on Law & Order!).

Aaron W (Aaron W), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 18:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I heard about that! Great quote from yuppie in NY Times about how he was happy he didn't discover the body. Way to be a neighbor, Chip!

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 18:37 (twenty-two years ago)

here it is. Somebody shiv this prick:

Justin Tobin, a 35-year-old marketing executive who lives at 203 East 13th Street - the apartment building next to where the body was found - said last night that he had seen a dark-colored trunk sitting on the sidewalk when he went for a jog about 8:30 on Saturday night.

Although he was not present when the trunk was opened yesterday, Mr. Tobin said he believed that it was the same one he had seen the night before.

He described it as a steamer trunk, about three feet long, two feet high and two feet deep, with a brass latch. It caught his attention, Mr. Tobin said, because it appeared to be in better condition than most things that are discarded in the street.

He said the trunk had been left standing upright between a chain-link fence, a trash bin and the corner of his building, so it was partly hidden from view from pedestrians on 13th Street.

"I'm glad I didn't check it out myself," Mr. Tobin said yesterday after learning what had been discovered by the homeless man. The police said that the man, whom they declined to identify, was questioned at the scene. There were no arrests in the case last night.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 18:57 (twenty-two years ago)

"I'm upset I didn't get to open it first!" is what he should have said?

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 18:59 (twenty-two years ago)

he should've said "fuck why did somebody have to ruin a good trunk I could put my Brooks Brothers shirts in"

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 19:00 (twenty-two years ago)

frankly, i would be glad that i hadn't found a dead body.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 11 June 2004 18:50 (twenty-two years ago)

this was near your apartment, was it not MS. SUSPECT?!?!

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 11 June 2004 18:57 (twenty-two years ago)
