there's a wax model of ronald regan standing outside the madame tussaud's at the moment for all tourists alike to take photos alongside. that's dignity.

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 14:06 (twenty-two years ago)

a shit called dignity.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 14:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Samuel L Jackson was more dignified. Also a better president.

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 14:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I saw Uma Thurman in my local Korean deli last night. She was buyin' smokes. The wife thought she looked "radiant". I, meanwhile, thought she looked rather freakishly tall.

you should go to "Pianos" on 152 (or something) Ludlow St. Lower East Side. It's grebt. and i saw a random secret PJ Harvey gig! there the other day!

The 'Museum Mile' neighborhood (5th ave between 70 and 110 or so). A friend worked at one of the museums and her co-workers used to keep a bulletin board listing all the celebrities they had seen on lunch breaks, etc.

some places i've been dragged when celebrity guests were involved: butter, spirit, bungalow 8, crobar, the tribeca grand hotel, soho house. a better question to ask is whether you really want to spend time in any of these places on the off chance that you might glimpse a flash of tara reid's elbow behind a phalanx of security men.

xpost - i was at that show, ken!

i have a friend who supposedly "knows people"

well that person knows you, obv.

ddb (ddb), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 14:56 (twenty-two years ago)

As opposed to 'a wife,' which would cause some distress, I'd think.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 14:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Now that is an amusing x-post.

I passed Jason "Lost Boys" Patrick on the street last week....he apparently lives on 11th street. I pass Janeane Garofallo almost weekly (and the blonde look really does not suit her). Tom Verlaine hangs out at the News Bar on University Place and is almost ALWAYS looking crotchedy and surly.

Liam Neeson is an enormous drunk who kind of inexplicably favors the restaurants Santa Fe and Isabella's, both on the Upper West Side.

Fans of F.Murray Abraham (Saliere in "Amadeus") might want to loiter around Knickerbocker's on Univeristy Place and 9th Street. I've seen him there twice in one month.

there are often celebs around the Mott/Elizabeth/Spring/Prince area - saw Vincent Gallo, Naomi Watts, and Natalie Portman in the last few months round there, as well as doubles god Patrick MacEnroe. Also, if there is a Devendra Banhart show on, go to that -last time Lou Reed and Rick Ocasek and lots of other famous-looking people were there. And he's good anyway.

Conor (Conor), Thursday, 10 June 2004 13:24 (twenty-two years ago)

The only celebrity I have ever seen in nyc is the guy who was on The Pretender.

bnw (bnw), Thursday, 10 June 2004 13:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Just saw John Turturro step off the elevator in my office building. Though I also see him EVERYWHERE in Brooklyn.
