CNBC cuts ties to professional wrestler/financial analyst after Nazi gestures
NEW YORK (AP) — CNBC has dumped professional wrestler John “Bradshaw” Layfield as a financial analyst after he was observed making Nazi gestures during a World Wrestling Entertainment match in Munich.
Layfield, who has written a book on personal finance, had been a CNBC contributor for only three weeks.
While in the wrestling ring over the weekend, Layfield reportedly imitated a Nazi march and raised his arm in a Nazi salute.
“We find his behaviour to be offensive, inappropriate and not befitting anyone associated with our network,” CNBC spokeswoman Amy Zelvin said Wednesday.
In a statement, the WWE said it and Layfield “deeply regret” the actions in the ring “and apologize if it has offended or upset our fans. Mr. Layfield has been reprimanded for his actions.”

How can one be a professional wrestler and a fiancial analyst at the same time? The mind reels.

dude made Eddie Guerrero's mom have a heart attack, too.

Well, he's probably got a decent amount of money. More than any of us, I'd imagine. This is money that he also earned and likely invested. But yeah, wrestlers <<<<<<<< internet fanboys.

B-b-but, what about the old saying, "When in Munich, make like a Nazi"?

Huk-El (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 20:14 (twenty-two years ago)

there are very few people who are "financial analysts" on CNBC who are actually qualified as such.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 20:14 (twenty-two years ago)

and what kind of a nickname is "Bradshaw"?

Huk-El (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 20:15 (twenty-two years ago)

hstencil, that's very true, and boy do I know how true that is.

Kerry (dymaxia), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 20:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I mean at least Jim Kramer's actually managed a portfolio, for god's sake.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 20:16 (twenty-two years ago)

They're all a buncha blowhards. Ron Insana is good and that's about it. But I stopped watching it years ago. Apres-bubble, what was the point? The Fortune Tellers was a good book.

my favorite part of startup.com is when a tv show comes to the govworks offices to do a feature on them and the producer asks for a shot of the staff raising their right arms enthusiastically. govworks guy was like "uh, NO. that's a symbol of the nazi party. find some other salute."

Look out! Behind you! It's "Bradshaw" and he's got a foreign object!

Huk-El (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 20:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Cramer likes you to think his record's a lot better than it actually is...

Broheems (diamond), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 20:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Today's Tampa & WIchita broadcast weatherpersons are tomorrow's CNBC financial analysts. ... One of my favorite things on CNBC though is when they do the four-way split screen after big economic data comes out, and all the other commentators make faces while Larry Kudlow spins off on some wacko tangent about the gold standard or whatever.

rasheed wallace (rasheed wallace), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 20:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Kudlow's a real piece of work. Entertaining, though. Which is what he's paid to be. it's always great when they can get Bill Gross on, though.

Broheems (diamond), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 20:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Cramer likes you to think his record's a lot better than it actually is...

that is definitely true.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 20:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Best is Gross and Kudlow together. I know a guy who's been on Kudlow & Cramer a few times and says that Kudlow is actually a friendly enough guy but as soon as the camera turns on ... I always get a kick out of the "exclusive" Cheney interviews on K&C since Larry and Dick are such tight boys and all.

rasheed wallace (rasheed wallace), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 20:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Kudlow has a pretty shitty forecasting record on the employment data but then again that's a big club.

I was gonna post this up just to see what dom thought about it.

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 20:33 (twenty-two years ago)

there needs to be more finance and wrestling threads on ILX.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 20:34 (twenty-two years ago)

it could have been worse; i think that Bradshaw used to be referred to as "Hawk"...

Kingfish Disraeli (Kingfish), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 21:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I mean at least Jim Kramer's actually managed a portfolio, for god's sake.

For a few years there, I used to love listening to Jim Cramer's radio show. In fact, that's how I got into Rush in the first place -- it used to come on right before Cramer's program and sometimes, when I would get out of class early and turn on the car radio, I would hear the last few minutes of Rush's program and would end up intrigued. (This is where I remind you that it's been a rather longish while since the last time I heard one of Rush's radio programs. Am not really into that anymore. Please stop entertaining fantasies of killing me, thanks.)

I didn't know what Cramer looked like until I caught him on CNBC sometime last year. Talk about those people who don't look the way they sound! I was fully expecting this blond-haired surfer boy in his thirties and gazing at this balding guy who looked like he was old enough to be the father of this mythical blond-haired surfer thirtysomething boy. But he is very sharp, a great guy to listen to for investing advice IMHO.

Those Beautiful Lines (Dee the Lurker), Thursday, 10 June 2004 01:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Bradshaw's a big stock market buff in real life. He even wrote a book on investing.
He's still an asshole, though.

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 10 June 2004 01:17 (twenty-two years ago)

i think that his ex-partner Farouhk is now a road agent for the WWE, assuming they still employ him.
