Pinefox Birthday FAP 2004

Despite being the pinefox, I am posting this thread. I don't think anyone else can be expected to do it for me.

I am wondering about a FAP on eg. Fri 25th (which is after my birthday). Is anyone up for it? Does it clash with owt? Could try a different date. eg. the Saturday 26th, which would be a Maxime Bossis birthday FAP.

Also, of course, potential Euro QF clash / or productive mingling, if we can find somewhere that's showing it.

Possible venues: the George / the Princess Louise / the Bull & Mouth for sheer footy-based big-screen fun! / etc.

the junefox, Friday, 11 June 2004 12:08 (twenty-two years ago)

It clashes with Glastonbury for a lot of us.

Is this your 30th?

Pete (Pete), Friday, 11 June 2004 12:16 (twenty-two years ago)

think it clashes with glastonbury?

and i think i might be on, holiday

charltonlido (gareth), Friday, 11 June 2004 12:16 (twenty-two years ago)

it is, as people have said, glastonbury.

i believe, that it is PF's 31st and that last year's celebrations at the george were the 30th.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 11 June 2004 12:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I would be happy to come along, and I think I am free on the Friday night but busy on the Saturday. I think that's how it works. I will also be busy on the Sunday because those Go-Betweens are playing at the Barbican - or the Barbie as they probably call it - with a string section and an interval.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 11 June 2004 12:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I will try and make this. It'll be the holidays, so it seems pretty possible. I'd like to be there.

Gregory Henry (Gregory Henry), Friday, 11 June 2004 12:34 (twenty-two years ago)

The Barbie!

Trust me not to know about Glastonbury.

I could make it earlier in the week if that's any better for certain folks.

Yes, it is only my 31st, not very important.

the junefox, Friday, 11 June 2004 12:39 (twenty-two years ago)

what day is your actual birthday?

colette (a2lette), Friday, 11 June 2004 12:43 (twenty-two years ago)

but prime-numbered birthdays are always the best.

koogs (koogs), Friday, 11 June 2004 12:44 (twenty-two years ago)

On my seventh birthday I went to Bristol Zoo and it was grebt. I can't remember any of my other PNBs.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 11 June 2004 12:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Is it a Sixth, or a Minor Third, that interval?

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 11 June 2004 12:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Is that a clever musical joke that I don't understand?

Tim (Tim), Friday, 11 June 2004 12:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Erm, yes, maybe.

I'll get me coat.

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 11 June 2004 12:50 (twenty-two years ago)

A FAP for us grumpy old folks who aren't at Glastonbury sounds like fun.

Jeff W (zebedee), Friday, 11 June 2004 13:10 (twenty-two years ago)

A FAP for us grumpy old folks who aren't at Glastonbury sounds like fun.

but i'd like to come, and i'm going to glastonbury...maybe two faps, then?

colette (a2lette), Friday, 11 June 2004 13:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I am grumpy enough and I am not going to glastonbury but, unfortunately, I don't live in london.

oh well!!

I'll wish you a happy birthday, nearer the time, PF.

RJG (RJG), Friday, 11 June 2004 13:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks, R,J,G.

!!

I like Colette's plan. 'Two-Faps' could become her middle name.

the junefox, Friday, 11 June 2004 13:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I might be able to attend One FAP... it's my birthday too :)

Archel (Archel), Friday, 11 June 2004 13:27 (twenty-two years ago)

When is yours, Archel?

I have started to think of having one on 19 June instead. Is that any better?

Other days in following week are possible. I will be away from www soon so it would be nice if anyone (else) who was up for it could say so (here) and it would be clearer what, if anything, we might do.

the junefox, Saturday, 12 June 2004 08:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I think calling Collette 'Two FAPs' could lead to nasty mis-hearings.

Lara (Lara), Saturday, 12 June 2004 10:04 (twenty-two years ago)

"Do you want a squeeze of my fap?"

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 12 June 2004 10:09 (twenty-two years ago)

This is just the kind of thing that came to mind when I read 'Two FAPs'.

Lara (Lara), Saturday, 12 June 2004 10:11 (twenty-two years ago)

shouldn't you be in Glasgow?

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 12 June 2004 10:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, I should. It is a short, miserable story involving working at the weekend and selling on a flight ticket. Will you be involved in festivities this afternoon and evening?

Lara (Lara), Saturday, 12 June 2004 10:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Started last night. I imagine I may continue today. And maybe remember to go and see Belle and Sebastian too.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 12 June 2004 10:40 (twenty-two years ago)

dont forget Brian is here that weekend, so there will be a fap anyway. co-ordinate

charltonlido (gareth), Saturday, 12 June 2004 11:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't imagine missing a Pinefox birthday FAP - assuming it isn't instead of seeing big football matches, but I'm sure we can do both.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 12 June 2004 12:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh the humanity! I am still at work. I hope the cream for your scones doens't clot properly. Or does. Or something. *The injustice*

Lara (Lara), Saturday, 12 June 2004 13:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Lara, you really should start LaraFest, and command all bands you choose to come and perform.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 12 June 2004 15:43 (twenty-two years ago)

happy birthday.

dave q, Saturday, 12 June 2004 16:13 (twenty-two years ago)

(Pinefox, please identify this very Pinefoxian-sounding British pop memory: what song's chorus goes "Valerie it started / only an hour ago / lying on your carpet / etc. etc.?" Sung by a man with an acoustic guitar.)

biscotti, Saturday, 12 June 2004 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Tsk. This is Stephen Duffy and the song is called Natalie.

So: "Natalie it started/Only an hour ago/Lying on your carpet/I knew what I didn't know/I felt myself let go."

Lara (Lara), Saturday, 12 June 2004 18:27 (twenty-two years ago)

(Thank you ever so much.)

biscotti, Saturday, 12 June 2004 23:19 (twenty-two years ago)

It is strange the direction this thread took. I never saw it.

So, is Fri 25th any good?

the junefox, Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Are France playing that night?

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 11:05 (twenty-one years ago)

aside from the original problem of loads of us being at glastonbury...

if we keep club FT next week, i nominate it as the pinefox birthday club night. if not, perhaps we should fap on wednesday to celebrate your birthday (late) and talk about glasto and send us on our way to roskilde...

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 11:08 (twenty-one years ago)

What is Roskilde?

the bellefox, Wednesday, 23 June 2004 11:10 (twenty-one years ago)

its a drexciya remix

charltonlido (gareth), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 11:15 (twenty-one years ago)

imagine a krome and time break laid over a 909, and then a filtered 303. its sort of like that

charltonlido (gareth), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 11:16 (twenty-one years ago)

you can spot the dsp though, thats the giveaway

charltonlido (gareth), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 11:17 (twenty-one years ago)

France are indeed playing Greece that night. Should we go somewhere with a telly? The Bull and Mouth?

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 11:17 (twenty-one years ago)

roskilde is like glastonbury, except in denmark. and with a bed and en suite bathroom, for me.

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Charltonlido is channel(l)ing Kodwo - he is da mensch.

I am 'up' for unofficial Pinefox FRA-GRE pub-a-long. Unless I am 'down'.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 12:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Where and when is this now? All my old answers seem to have disappeared since I followed N's advice!

People love Gravity and Evolution! (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 12:12 (twenty-one years ago)

If this is still Friday, I could make it. I am not going to Glastonbury.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 12:17 (twenty-one years ago)

'France are indeed playing Greece that night. Should we go somewhere with a telly? The Bull and Mouth?'

As far as watching footy, the blue posts was fine.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 12:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Fri 25th good for me, for once. Just say where & when, pubfox!

Mooro (Mooro), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 12:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I am coming round to the Nipper's Bull & Mouth suggestion.

This is sounding good. Mooro's availability is really cheering me. Others', too.

the pubfox, Wednesday, 23 June 2004 14:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't go, otherwise I would.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I can come out on Friday, I imagine.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

ha, it looks like my saying I could make it has killed this! If it's happening, I'd like to know tonight or I probably won't make it!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 24 June 2004 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Martin: Yes, it'll happen. I'm coming round to Bull & Mouth. Come along! Yes, do.

Maybe more confirmation etc tomorrow.

the pinefox (MichaelJ), Thursday, 24 June 2004 18:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Where is the Bull & Mouth?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 24 June 2004 18:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Bloomsbury. It's near the British Museum. Holborn is the nearest tube.

There is a map here.

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 25 June 2004 06:53 (twenty-one years ago)

or this:

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 25 June 2004 07:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it safe to come down now that that England have been knocked out of that awful footie thing? The Bull & Mouth is very near my house.

He wants to be me (kate), Friday, 25 June 2004 07:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Kate, they are boys. They will still watch Greecce-France.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 25 June 2004 07:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Golly, where did that extra 'c' come from?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 25 June 2004 07:30 (twenty-one years ago)

It just isn't fair. What do they have to do to make it go away? I would ask if there was an upstairs with no TV, like at the last pub, but I don't think there's enough people that aren't at Glasto or Roskilde or at festivals or whatever to justify another 2-floor FAP.

He wants to be me (kate), Friday, 25 June 2004 07:32 (twenty-one years ago)

The reason we are going to the Bull & Mouth, if we are, is that we want to watch footy and it is best for footy.

the bellefox, Friday, 25 June 2004 10:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, I hope you have a happy birthday party then, The Pinefox.

He wants to be me (kate), Friday, 25 June 2004 10:18 (twenty-one years ago)

so do I!

RJG (RJG), Friday, 25 June 2004 10:21 (twenty-one years ago)

(I hope that "then" doesn't make that post look snarky, coz it was not intended as such. Argh.)

He wants to be me (kate), Friday, 25 June 2004 10:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Dammit, I'm still ill and homefrom work, so I don't think I will be able to make this. I am sad to miss both your birthday celebrations and a chance to celebrate your book coming out. Have a great time anyway, and sorry.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 25 June 2004 10:28 (twenty-one years ago)

you'll soon have a 2 year hiatus until the World Cup in 2006, Kate, if that's any consolation...

get well soon, Martin.

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 25 June 2004 10:29 (twenty-one years ago)

premiership starts in less than two months!!!

chris (chris), Friday, 25 June 2004 10:30 (twenty-one years ago)

stop stirring, Chris, you know as well as I do that football h8ers can shield themselves from the Premiership far more easily than they can avoid international tournaments.

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 25 June 2004 10:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm just feeling touchy coz my best mate, who I thought was on *my* side started ranting about the game on her blog. TRAITOR!!! I don't care if My New Delays Boyfriend is obsessed with it, I'm not going to see the point of it, not now, not ever, just stop already.

Funnily enough, though, Joe went to the shops for a bottle of wine last night, and came back observing "London is sooo scarily quiet right now. It must be The Game."

Anyway... maybe I'll stop by after it's all over. But otherwise doubtful.

He wants to be me (kate), Friday, 25 June 2004 10:32 (twenty-one years ago)

ah, you knew that then Kate...

He's been on Soccer Am and everything, not sure if he was the one that had trials for Southampton though, he didn't score in "we are the champions league" though

chris (chris), Friday, 25 June 2004 11:31 (twenty-one years ago)

It's not fair. I mean, I can sometimes ignore it if it's just some odd foible or personality quirk. But when it's an UNHEALTHY OBSESSION like he has, it's just completely worrying. I'm so torn.

He wants to be me (kate), Friday, 25 June 2004 11:34 (twenty-one years ago)

What -- your boyfriend is in Delays??

the bellefox, Friday, 25 June 2004 13:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Pay attention, The Pinefox!

He wants to be me (kate), Friday, 25 June 2004 13:30 (twenty-one years ago)

To what?

I have been watching football, reading literature, cooking, buying alcohol, etc. I cannot be expected to know about everything that happens everywhere, alas.

the bellefox, Friday, 25 June 2004 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyone who would like to come out, but is not coming because of the footy -- thanks: it was nice of you to want to come out.

Other people who cannot make it but would like to, also: ditto - I am thinking here of Martin S: Martin, I think it's a pity you won't make it.

Anyone who does want to come out and watch the footy: so, Bull & Mouth from... 7? Earlier?

the bellefox, Friday, 25 June 2004 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't make it, sorry.

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 25 June 2004 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Cozen, we understand. you do live rather a long way away.

I will be there. I will be leaving my office, here in Oxford, in about ten minutes.

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 25 June 2004 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I am going to the boozer next. I am looking forward to seeing people. And not just people on a TV screen.

the bellefox, Friday, 25 June 2004 16:26 (twenty-one years ago)

What Cozen said (for similar reasons).

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 25 June 2004 16:31 (twenty-one years ago)
