I'm about to drink a protein shake. It looks awful, but I couldn't find anything for breakfast. Please call someone if I don't respond to any posts after this one.

In the meantime, talk about VITAMIN WATER!!

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 14 June 2004 14:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Does that have many carbs? You are kinda skinny, jaymc.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Monday, 14 June 2004 14:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Is Vitamin Water "for real"?

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Monday, 14 June 2004 14:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know how many carbs it has. It has a lot of vitamins and nutrients, though. ... (But I'm actually not that skinny! I have a belly!)

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 14 June 2004 14:58 (twenty-two years ago)

No, you don't.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Monday, 14 June 2004 14:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Are you a vegetarian? You seem like one! ;)

(I think I have asked you that before)

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Monday, 14 June 2004 15:00 (twenty-two years ago)

JAYMC ARE YOU A VEGETARIAN?

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 14 June 2004 15:13 (twenty-two years ago)

The first couple of sips of cream soda are great. It's the rest of the can that presents a problem for me.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 14 June 2004 15:21 (twenty-two years ago)

oh yeah!

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Monday, 14 June 2004 15:22 (twenty-two years ago)

two years pass...

I'm drinking an "acai-blueberry-pomegranate" Vitamin Water right now, and I realized it tastes like a melted slurpee. I paid $2.25 for it, and it's basically filtered water with a couple of added vitamins and a DROP of fruit extract (less than 1% juice). I guess I'm being captain obvious here, but no wonder Coca-Cola bought Glaceau.

Hurting 2, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 17:36 (nineteen years ago)

I drink it a lot lately because it's like the only thing available nearby besides plain old regular bottled water that doesn't have HFCS in it

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 17:38 (nineteen years ago)

I really don't get Vitamin Water. It's not all that great and has 100 calories or so a bottle. Why not just drink regular H2O and take a multivitamin if you're concerned about that?

ENBB, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 17:39 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, I wind up drinking it once in a while for similar reasons - 26 grams of sugars per bottle instead of like 60.

Hurting 2, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 17:40 (nineteen years ago)

Sometimes I just want a sweet drink instead of plain water.

Hurting 2, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 17:40 (nineteen years ago)

But this one was kinda gross.

Hurting 2, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 17:40 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, that just seems like a lot of liquid calories. I suppose complared to reg soda or juice it isn't but I can't remember the last time I had either or those.

ENBB, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 17:41 (nineteen years ago)

Vitamin Water does use fructose, btw. Is there something specifically unhealthy about high fructose corn syrup (other than it just being one of those icky food industry products)?

Hurting 2, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 17:44 (nineteen years ago)

It's junk food dressed up for yuppies who are too smart for junk food. With the exception of the Multi-Vitamin one, the Vitamin content is negligible.

It goes perfect with a power bar (that contains 20g of sugar).

Steve Shasta, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 17:46 (nineteen years ago)

I cldn't find any Schweppes Tonic in Tokyo, so I opted for Vitamin CC instead.

http://www.japancentre.com/images/items/85px/SO_NU_cclemon.jpg

Not too bad actually.

stevienixed, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 18:11 (nineteen years ago)

I like the lemonade vitamin water. It's a bit watered-down, less sweet lemonade and a good choice when I don't feel like soda or regular water. The vitamin bit is unimportant to me as I'm sure it's negligable amounts.

What I want to know is how have they become so successful as to have 50 Cent and Kelly Clarkson shilling for them?

Ms Misery, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 18:15 (nineteen years ago)

Are those CC Lemon bottles prevalent in the US or only in Japan? I think they are *brewed* (hahah) by Kirin. The label stated it contained a LOT of vit. C.

I don't drink flavoured still water (?). It feels odd that something colourless can have a fruit flavour. Yes, I'm a moron.

stevienixed, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 18:17 (nineteen years ago)

i remember, probably 10 or so years ago, glaceau made awesome waters that were completely unsweetened and had a tiny bit of fruit flavor - cantaloupe, honeydew, watermelon. those were heaven. then, they moved into 'fruit water', which was still pretty good, though the flavoring could be a little off. then vitamin water took over and it's much harder to find even the regular fruit water anymore. actually, the 'hint' waters are a lot better i think, though still more like fruit water than the original awesome glaceau waters of yore.

tehresa, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 18:19 (nineteen years ago)

oh p.s. anyone interested in the vitamin water pomegranate blueberry acai should drink the honestade pomegranate blue (as discussed on corresponding noise thread).

tehresa, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 18:21 (nineteen years ago)

You know that stuff is mostly grape juice right?

Hurting 2, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 18:31 (nineteen years ago)

yep! most of them are. but it still tastes a lot better than the vitamin water version!

tehresa, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 18:33 (nineteen years ago)

Here's a reason for vitamin water: it is GREAT for hangovers. better than gatorade, because it has vitamins AND electrolytes. also tastes better.

the table is the table, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 18:34 (nineteen years ago)

tehresa, i remember the glaceau melon waters tastily

elmo argonaut, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 18:35 (nineteen years ago)

they were in those weirdly shaped clear thin plastic bottles w/ the pop tops. oh, those were the days...

tehresa, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 18:37 (nineteen years ago)

I dunno, I think it tastes like grape juice (Honest Pomade)

Hurting 2, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 18:37 (nineteen years ago)

to each his own, but i tried that vw xxx and it was foul.

tehresa, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 18:40 (nineteen years ago)

yeah it's gross

Hurting 2, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 18:42 (nineteen years ago)

The Honestade one is not bad.

They do make some of the most bizarre-tasting tea products I've ever imbibed.

Hurting 2, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 18:43 (nineteen years ago)

xpost to Stevie: I've never seen CC Lemon in the U.S. My favorite Japanese beverage is Calpis Water. Ooh, and cold cocoa!

Vitamin Water, Gatorade, etc are gross. I need sugar I can taste.

lindseykai, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 20:44 (nineteen years ago)

CC LEMON IST DEUS.

I may be the world's only fan of Fruit 2 O.

Abbott, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 20:47 (nineteen years ago)

three years pass...

Roffle:

Now here's something you wouldn't expect. Coca-Cola is being sued by a non-profit public interest group, on the grounds that the company's vitaminwater products make unwarranted health claims. No surprise there. But how do you think the company is defending itself?

In a staggering feat of twisted logic, lawyers for Coca-Cola are defending the lawsuit by asserting that "no consumer could reasonably be misled into thinking vitaminwater was a healthy beverage."

fantastic riposte

Here's a reason for vitamin water: it is GREAT for hangovers. better than gatorade, because it has vitamins AND electrolytes.

This cant be right, theres no electrolytes (and fsckall vitamins) in this shit. Gatorade it aint.

I only ever drink the one with guarana in it, simply because its the only non-fizzy caffienated drink around (and doesnt have the icky tauriney taste of V/Red Bull). I have no expectations of health from what is effectively a bottle of cordial.

Gumbercules (Trayce), Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:43 (fifteen years ago)

But for Coke to be advertising the shit as good for you, as always bemused me in the ads I'd see, and now say "well surely no one BELIEVED US", is just breathtakingly ballsy.

Gumbercules (Trayce), Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:45 (fifteen years ago)

I walked by a classroom window to which someone had taped a napkin which had written on it "Did you know VITAMIN WATER IS NOT HEALTHY? It's NOT!!!"
