When can I smoke a pipe?

What is the minimum age one has to be to smoke a pipe and not look like a dumbass? Fifty? I saw pictures of my dad in his old 1959 H.S.U. yearbook, and he and all his pals smoked pipes when they were like 22... but they looked okay, very B.M.O.C. with buzzcuts and cardigans and whatnot...

I'd like to smoke a pipe with some nice tobacco but I don't think it's age appropriate anymore. Please advise.

I always thought pipe-appropriate was the same age as beret-appropriate... maybe about sixty or so? Or course Che Guevara pulled off both at a much younger age...

Yeah, I was twelve when I first lit up a Sneak-a-Toke, and that seemed quite appropriate. I made my first mason jar hookah that same summer. No, I'm talking about grown-up smoking here.. the Mongoose BMX is long gone, I'm afraid.
