that would be groovy "wallpaper" like the full mountain scene thing my grandparents used to have on one of their walls.

I think you might just find that Gursky's will be quite expensive. What with him not really seeing himself as Athena.

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 21:30 (twenty-two years ago)

i dont think so, but it gives you the vibe.

anthony, Wednesday, 16 June 2004 21:40 (twenty-two years ago)

the streets album cover is a "pirated" version of gursky

You could buy "Coal Bunkers" by Bernd and Hilla Becher, who were Gursky's teachers/mentors

or if you prefer color, I once did a similar set of nine 15"x15" prints of local dumpsters. My work is much cheaper than the Bechers or Gursky. (Maybe I should adopt a German name to help prices?)

(actually, I had a garbage theme that semester - our final project had to be finished and displayed as it would have been in a gallery. I was broke, so I mounted my prints with garbage ties onto the outside of stolen grocery carts and wheeled them into the class. The actual photos were probably crap, but I got an A for the display.)

where was the TOYS R US one taken? It looks sorta like a Toys R Us in Queens...

When they did the Gursky show at the MOMA in NY, they sold an accompanying large poster -- a fucking gorgeous print of the 99 cents store. The poster sold out fast, though (I didn't get one, which I am still heartbroken about). But I later bought a different museum show poster (Shanghai Hotel) off a poster site online... so there are some out there, they are just oddly hard to find.

oh thanks! do you remember the poster site you got it from?
