I think my favorite bit was the very end when Stan's discussing cultural hatred with his Afgahnistan counterpart. his conculsion is "I'm so confused." Which probably sums up a lot of people's thoughts.

"Wow, he's getting really fucking WASTED on life!"
I laughed really hard at this latest ep, partly because they finally got around to commenting on the jenkem bullshit, partly b/c they got the Heavy Metal bits down _perfectly_.
The Spitzer thing seemed like a last minute throw-away thing, but i did lol at kyle's mom up by the podium with the "pissed off politician's wife" look.
― kingfish, Friday, 28 March 2008 07:57 (eighteen years ago)
that was pretty funny
― latebloomer, Friday, 28 March 2008 09:48 (eighteen years ago)

― chap, Friday, 28 March 2008 16:20 (eighteen years ago)
It was a great episode...also last week's (Britney is attempting a bizarre entire-top-half-of-her-head-gone look) was the most horrifying I've seen since Cartman fed that kid his parents.
― nickalicious, Friday, 28 March 2008 16:21 (eighteen years ago)
The Britney ep was one I regretted watching over dinner.
― Casuistry, Friday, 28 March 2008 17:38 (eighteen years ago)
Britney ep was lame, like most of their "message" episodes. I lol'ed at the Heavy Metal stuff tho, I always enjoy that shit.
― Shakey Mo Collier, Friday, 28 March 2008 17:42 (eighteen years ago)
Heavy Metal ep was the first ep I've enjoyed in ages. Love that they used the Hagar song...and the animation was so dead on, I was having major flashbacks throughout. I liked the Anne Frank cats too.
― VegemiteGrrrl, Saturday, 29 March 2008 03:39 (eighteen years ago)
Goddammit, it's one thing to run a polemic episode. It's another for a non-union production to mock the writer's strike as well as being totally disingenious for representating the stakes, conditions, and gains made.
Still, this was their first disagreeable ep I've seen where they properly balanced out the political shit with sufficiently absurdist bits.
― kingfish, Thursday, 3 April 2008 05:16 (eighteen years ago)
their politics are execrable, but they are still occasionally funny
― Shakey Mo Collier, Thursday, 3 April 2008 16:59 (eighteen years ago)
Why is it that Matt and Trey can't make fun of the strike but Tina Fey can? (ans: no one wants to fuck Matt and Trey)
― HI DERE, Thursday, 3 April 2008 17:04 (eighteen years ago)
(also yeah, Tina's joke was funnier, but I think the fucking point still stands)
― HI DERE, Thursday, 3 April 2008 17:06 (eighteen years ago)
I think this guy pretty much nails the subject of taking any of Parker/Stone's political commentary seriously. Still, a funny ep.
― Nhex, Thursday, 3 April 2008 22:43 (eighteen years ago)
Also to be noted: not sure what the word is, but odd timing that they just put up all their episodes online and supported by corporate advertising? Rendering their own point about nobody making money off the internet really stupid?
― Nhex, Thursday, 3 April 2008 22:45 (eighteen years ago)
I don't pay attention to Tina Fey Dan, sorry.
― Shakey Mo Collier, Thursday, 3 April 2008 22:53 (eighteen years ago)
yeah, didn't see the tina fey thing
― kingfish, Friday, 4 April 2008 00:54 (eighteen years ago)
It was her monologue on SNL after the strike when she did the extended thing talking about precisely what the writers won in the strike, which as described as nothing anyone who wasn't a writer would care about.

there was definitely a joy division rip in there, but i don't know if it was of any particular song. i love the goth kids. and butters. i like when they let butters have an episode to himself.
― tipsy mothra, Friday, 21 November 2008 07:39 (seventeen years ago)
the final "burn the hot topic down" song was great.
― Gukbe, Friday, 21 November 2008 12:02 (seventeen years ago)

― I've encountered Whiney on numerous message boards and (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 21 November 2008 12:48 (seventeen years ago)
I wouldn't call this conclusive evidence but I do think it's worth remembering that the very first special guest they ever had on the show back in 1997 was Robert Smith, after all -- and after he kicked Barbra Streisand's ass and headed home, either Stan or Kyle shouted after him, "DISINTEGRATION IS THE BEST ALBUM EVER!"

― I've encountered Whiney on numerous message boards and (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 21 November 2008 17:28 (seventeen years ago)
C'mon now, they didn't NEED to make that reference. That was the point!
― Ned Raggett, Friday, 21 November 2008 17:31 (seventeen years ago)
I guess they did "girls swoon over fad that adults find silly" thing last week so they didn't need to do it again.
Loved the scene when the goth kids tried to wear normal clothes!
― Black Seinfeld (HI DERE), Friday, 21 November 2008 17:33 (seventeen years ago)
My favorite SP thing ever came from one of the goth kids episodes, when Stan was told to stand below Wendy's window and play Peter Gabriel on a boombox...and he played "Shock the Monkey"

vampire one was way better than the last one. 'elementary school musical' was an obvious but fine idea, but the gay-dad plotline was lame. they could've done a lot more with the basic idea.

― iatee, Thursday, 5 November 2009 06:32 (sixteen years ago)
it's like they're trying to give you the experience of being a character in an apatow movie? but they're not attempting to make it funny?
― iatee, Thursday, 5 November 2009 06:34 (sixteen years ago)
Actually, it wasn't the worst one, but it definately gave me the feeling of a much older episode.
I'm trying to think of the last ep that was as good as the latest Butters episode.

cuz it's freaking hilarious.
I enjoyed this ep a whole lot - the whole thing was so self-referential to the point of absurdism. I particularly liked the return of both Mitch Connors and Mr. Hat. Also trying to pick out all the previously-mocked celebrities in the room was fun. Keep an eye open for a spectacularly emaciated Sarah Jessica Parker...

http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2010/04/19/security-brief-radical-islamic-web-site-takes-on-south-park/?hpt=T2
On Sunday, Revolutionmuslim.com posted an entry that included a warning to South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone that they risk violent retribution – after the 200th episode last week included a satirical discussion about whether an image of the prophet could be shown. In the end, he is portrayed disguised in a bear suit. The posting on Revolutionmuslim.com says: “We have to warn Matt and Trey that what they are doing is stupid and they will probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh for airing this show. This is not a threat, but a warning of the reality of what will likely happen to them.”
