To shave or not to shave....

How many people out there shave? Everyooone shaves right? But where and how often? Do men really find (slighly) stubbly legs gross? Do we think that HAIR-FREE-ness is the way of the future? what about evolution. What about "the special" areas? How many guys and girls remove hair from their intimate areas?

twinkle, Saturday, 14 August 2004 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

i hate shaving my face. do it every few days but thats about it.

splooge (thesplooge), Saturday, 14 August 2004 14:50 (twenty-one years ago)

i dated a girl that didnt shave her legs or armpits and frankly it was a turnoff no matter how hard i tried to not let it be one.

Do we think that HAIR-FREE-ness is the way of the future? what about evolution.

What about evolution? I doubt nature is going to start selecting for the hairless any time soon.

Everyone should swim in a vat of hot wax.

No, I don't have eyebrows.

Leon Czolgosz (Nicole), Saturday, 14 August 2004 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

No eyebrows? But... you'll freeze to death!

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 14 August 2004 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd happily remove any possible moustache or beard if a potential mate requested (I think I have craptastic facial hair anyway, I'm just lazy about it sometimes). I expect the same. Otherwise it's their call.

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 14 August 2004 15:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think I'd mind a girl having hairy armpits, but hairy legs eugh.

MarkH (MarkH), Saturday, 14 August 2004 16:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't care whether girls shave their armpits or not.

I can't say I like hairy legs, but I prefer them to legs which are quite obviously shaven: slight stubble, or - even worse - the little dots that cover supposedly smooth shins and knees.

The skin of a leg is a fundamentally unattractive feature, and I would advocate hiding it, by means of tights, stockings, jeans, even tracksuit bottoms.

I do not like it when people of either sex show expose their naked legs in sunlight. It is a pity that girls are encouraged to do so.

All faults are forgiven under the dim light indoors, of course. There, in fact, mild untamed hairiness is probably the most appealing choice as it usually feels the smoothest.

Eyeball Kicks (Eyeball Kicks), Saturday, 14 August 2004 16:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I shave my face on weekdays and occasionally at the weekend.

I have never shaved any non-head hair.

the hairy women thing - I don't really care one way or another about armpits. I have a mild preference for shaved legs, but I'm not that pushed.

DV (dirtyvicar), Saturday, 14 August 2004 16:48 (twenty-one years ago)

im not into girls with the type of hair that is feathery on the same spot where men have sideburns. that bothers me a lot.

splooge (thesplooge), Saturday, 14 August 2004 16:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Men who trim their pubic hair: insecure or thoughtful?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Saturday, 14 August 2004 16:55 (twenty-one years ago)

no I don't get bothered by that Splooge.

MarkH (MarkH), Saturday, 14 August 2004 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

youre a bigger man than i, markh.

splooge (thesplooge), Saturday, 14 August 2004 16:58 (twenty-one years ago)

you basically like women with sideburns, i take it.

splooge (thesplooge), Saturday, 14 August 2004 17:00 (twenty-one years ago)

the only man who looked good with facial hair was rock hudson in lover come back. otherwise, bleah.

lauren (laurenp), Saturday, 14 August 2004 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Lauren is otm.

Leon Czolgosz (Nicole), Saturday, 14 August 2004 17:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Facial hair is unquestionably demonaic, yes. I would dissolve my follicles if I could.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 14 August 2004 17:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I've been bearded since I was 18. Shaving hurts, so I have a beard, simple as that. When I punched a clock I kept the beard neat by shaving my neck twice a week, but that's down to once a week now. One of the most dumbass things I've ever read was "bearded men generally have something to hide."

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Saturday, 14 August 2004 17:40 (twenty-one years ago)

lauren never did like my beard. : (

hstencil (hstencil), Saturday, 14 August 2004 17:41 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't like anyone's beard!

lauren (laurenp), Saturday, 14 August 2004 17:43 (twenty-one years ago)

BEARDHATE

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 14 August 2004 17:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't look THAT BAD in one, though. It's the maintenance that keeps me from keeping one.

hstencil (hstencil), Saturday, 14 August 2004 17:45 (twenty-one years ago)

There are a lot of ilxors with cool beards, I think. It's always a brave move. I would like to grow a beard, but it take's too long too and looks pretty terrible. I would like to have Robert Pires style muskateer facial hair, even if he does play for Arsenal.

????

This is as wrong as wrong can be. Let your legs breathe. One thing I like about working summer weekends (like, right now) is I can wear shorts to the office (like, right now). And sandals too.

To the shaving question, I shave my face the minimum necessary to keep from looking completely bedraggled, every 2-3 days. I like getting kind of stubbly.

On a significant other, I've always found that women cared a lot more about being shaved and trimmed than I cared about them being shaved and trimmed. One girlfriend didn't shave her legs at all one winter, because she said it kept her legs from itching in the dry air. Didn't bother me, they were kind of nice and feathery. It felt weird when she went back to shaving them.

spittle (spittle), Saturday, 14 August 2004 17:54 (twenty-one years ago)

If I shave my beard/goatee (I do both -- it's seasonal), I get no kisses. I have crazy stubble. I can grow a respectable beard in two weeks, and a lot of guys envy that, but I don't really have the option of *not* having facial hair. To stay smooth, I'd have to shave three times a day.

Harold Media (kenan), Saturday, 14 August 2004 17:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I've worn long pants twice in the last four months, once for a wedding and once for my grandmother's birthday party. I'm no Peter Jackson, but it would be torture for me to have to hide my legs through the warm months. But I'm somewhat bowlegged, and wearing jeans throughout the winter wears the hair off the outsides of my legs, so in the spring when the shorts come out I have this doofy look as though I'd shaved the outsides of my legs. It takes all summer for the leg hair to grow back. (/more than you needed to know)

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Saturday, 14 August 2004 18:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I shaved (my face) properly for the first time in ages the other day, just to check that it still made me look like a 22-year-old virgin. It did.

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 14 August 2004 18:10 (twenty-one years ago)

didnt realise there was so much anti-beardism in the world.

splooge (thesplooge), Saturday, 14 August 2004 18:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Women hate beard - survey. BUT NOTE THE CONTRADICTORY STREAK.

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 14 August 2004 18:16 (twenty-one years ago)

anti-new beard america-ism

cutty (mcutt), Saturday, 14 August 2004 18:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Beards are appropriate for aging, distinguished types. Everyone else deserves only stubble.

Legs and armpits are very different propositions.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Saturday, 14 August 2004 18:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes. Applying deodorant to legs is decidedly weird.

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 14 August 2004 18:35 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't understand this. my gf is the first person i've been out with that hasn't shaved her legs or armpits and frankly i find it as hot as hell. perhaps it's the novelty? either way i won't be suggesting any depilation in the near future.

One of my friends who always shaves his head bald had his neigbor hairdresser offer to hotwax his head for free.. It bleed like crazy but was stubble free for weeks.

hahaha yeah. I know what you mean. It's like when you're surfing porn, a lot of sites have a category called "hairy." Seldom does this mean *extra* hairy, it just means, "not shaven". That's the kink now, not the default.

As a child, Yu was never keen on schoolwork, but was highly talented in the performing arts. He starred in a movie at the age of six about a hairy child's adventure, and he became a rock and roll singer as a teenage, perforing in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Zhuhai,Shanghai, Guangzhou and Malaysia. In 2002, he was recognized as the hairiest man in the world by the Guinness Book of Records.

"I've never lacked attention all my life, which is good and bad. If I have a son, I hope he is another hairy boy. I want him to live with pride," he said.
