...because I know you have fears for our Mexican food, there is one good restaurant in Sydney, but I had forgotten the name, remember? then you said, koala tacos, haha, and i said, Raggett stew hahaha but ANYWAY on another forum, someone has mentioned this restaurant so put it in your book or iPod or whatever...

"Aztecas, on Avoca St in Randwick, is the only mexican place in Sydney that's actually owned and run by a Mexican-born Mexican, and the food is authentic central Mexican - not tex-mex like most. They also have a fine range of premium tequilas, and import and sell mexican foodstuffs as well. Try the chicken breast in pepita salsa. It's the shit. José will serenade you at your table too....
I've also heard good reports about Juanita's, on Anzac Pde in Kensington, but haven't sampled it yet. Now if only there was somewhere that did authentic Yucatan cuisine, I'm hangin' for a good poc chuc...."

"It's the shit" is meant to be a compliment I think.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:18 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah but you'd have to venture into the eastern suburbs to eat there.

gaz (gaz), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Your reward would be that you wouldn't meet gaz.

Theres a v good Mexican in Melb called Mexicali Rose - the guy who runs it is the dad of a friend of mine, and its said theyre one of the only Melb Mexican places that do proper regional mexican food, interesting dishes, not the obvious. Certainly liked it when I went. Its in Richmond.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:24 (twenty-one years ago)

actually you wouldn't meet anyone. you'd get some condescending looks though.

gaz (gaz), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:25 (twenty-one years ago)

and maybe even some hungry looks.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:25 (twenty-one years ago)

the bluecorn in barkly st also does authentic mexican. it's great, and always full.

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:32 (twenty-one years ago)

tex-mex is ok, too. i like burritos and quesadillas!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, they didn't ask you, you pierogi-swilling lawyer.

I note this review for future reference. Koala tacos by the time I visit or bust.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:34 (twenty-one years ago)

a quesadilla is a mexican pierogi ... kinda sorta, they're both fried dough stuffed w/ cheese. dunno about koala meat, though.

The Emperor's name was Maximilian, not Jan Baptysta.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:39 (twenty-one years ago)

(But I kid the representative of the Noble Army That Held Off the Evil Reds way back when etc.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:41 (twenty-one years ago)

my mates doing a cooking course and we're going to the student night when they all cook his menu. he's using mainly native ingredients and has promised roo paw entrees.

gaz (gaz), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:41 (twenty-one years ago)

or maybe he said raw poo

gaz (gaz), Monday, 16 August 2004 01:47 (twenty-one years ago)

There's a great-looking Mexican place on Paramatta Rd. in Annandale too. I haven't been there yet, but it's supposed to be very good.

C0L1N B3CK3TT (Colin Beckett), Monday, 16 August 2004 06:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Sami Jherllykanyngya, Monday, 16 August 2004 08:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha, yeah, I'm here until December.

C0L1N B3CK3TT (Colin Beckett), Monday, 16 August 2004 10:56 (twenty-one years ago)

But I have no idea who would've mentioned me.

C0L1N B3CK3TT (Colin Beckett), Monday, 16 August 2004 10:57 (twenty-one years ago)

go to the swiss restaurant on Parramatta road! it's bloody lovely, and you get a prize for emptying the cheese fondue bowl...

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Monday, 16 August 2004 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

The fantastic new Mexican restaurant on top of the Hoey genuinely does Kangaroo Burritos (and tacos): http://www.riderfood.com/grfx/rider_menu_2008.pdf

One step
TWO steps
GETTING CLOSER

Will the koala taco dream finally come true?

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 3 July 2008 00:46 (seventeen years ago)

I know what you'll buy

moley, Thursday, 3 July 2008 00:52 (seventeen years ago)

I saw a Ned Raggett look-a-like on my street yesterday! You, er, he went into an Italian restaurant looking like you (he) shouldn't have been there.

I nearly went up to your clone and said "Loveless isn't very good!" just to see if it was you, but I got shy and didn't.
