the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Monday, 16 August 2004 12:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Fux0r, r0x0r, teh sukc, teh funney, pwned, pnwed, owned (the latter 3 a lot recently)

Pashmina (Pashmina), Monday, 16 August 2004 12:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I got in real big trouble for my use of classic or dud. don't ask how, but someone took a lot more from the word dud than they should have.

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Monday, 16 August 2004 12:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't turn my face into a heart.
Ornaldo Bloomps.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 16 August 2004 12:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Ha ha, I actually got Joe to start saying things like "chiX0rs" and he's never even read ILX.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Monday, 16 August 2004 12:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Cockfarmer is in seriously common usage, as is 'classic or dud'. Roxxor kind of is. Not sure how to pronounce ANY of Norms.

Jimmybommy JimmyK'KANG (Nick Southall), Monday, 16 August 2004 12:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Ornaldo Bloomps gets said a lot too.

Jimmybommy JimmyK'KANG (Nick Southall), Monday, 16 August 2004 12:08 (twenty-one years ago)

grebt

dave*225 (Dave225), Monday, 16 August 2004 12:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I keep saying Ornaldo Bloomps out loud as well. I just can't help it. DAMN YOU TOMBOT!!!1!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 16 August 2004 12:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Fannydangle, fuX0red, pwned, Classic Or Dud, Taking Sides, grebt, FAP.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 16 August 2004 12:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Cockfarmer as well, yes.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Monday, 16 August 2004 12:09 (twenty-one years ago)

FAP
cockfarmer
mentalist

Red Panda Sanskrit (ex machina), Monday, 16 August 2004 12:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Mentalist I don't really regard as an ILX word, since its in the OED these days. I'm using 'menko' and 'menk' quite a lot these days, and 'owned' for that matter.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 16 August 2004 12:12 (twenty-one years ago)

i corrected myself on the phone the other day telling my mum that Emma had "done us a nice roast chiXoR CHICKEN, a roast chicken."

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Monday, 16 August 2004 12:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd forgotten about menko, I use that too. And kthnxbye.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 16 August 2004 12:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Hatorade as well. That's a favourite, "stop drinking hatorade!!"

Pashmina (Pashmina), Monday, 16 August 2004 12:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I called someone an Asshat yesterday.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 16 August 2004 12:57 (twenty-one years ago)

'Grauniad' has been in use since at least the 80s (from Private Eye?) hasn't it?

Alba (Alba), Monday, 16 August 2004 12:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm really upset that "The Cardigan" never caught on.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Grauniad is straight from Private eye, indeed. I've have started describing things as 'classic' in the sense of 'quite good' thanks to this pish.

scotstvo (scotstvo), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:03 (twenty-one years ago)

'Grauniad' has been in use since at least the 80s (from Private Eye?) hasn't it?

Yeah, possibly earlier. The Gu4rdian did once misspell its own name.

beanz (beanz), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:03 (twenty-one years ago)

"Asshat" does move so easily into real life.

beanz (beanz), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Asshat is in VERY common usage, especially when driving on dual carriageways.

Jimmybommy JimmyK'KANG (Nick Southall), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Ass Goblin
Excelsior!

briania (briania), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:06 (twenty-one years ago)

"I've have" should become standard.

scotstvo (scotstvo), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:06 (twenty-one years ago)

"Nick you must calm down and stop shouting at people because they refuse to use the left-hand lane!"

"But these aren't even REAL WORDS! Only an ILXOR would be offended!"

Jimmybommy JimmyK'KANG (Nick Southall), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I honestly can't think of anything I've taken from ILX to use in everyday speech. It would sound ridiculous. UR all mentalists.

Alba (Alba), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Cockfarmer, asshat, twunt, mentalist, teh suck, owned, laymor.

suzy (suzy), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:10 (twenty-one years ago)

'Asshat' sounds ridiculous in a British accent, especially if you modify it to the vernacular, 'arseharte'.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:13 (twenty-one years ago)

"Urgent and key". I get slightly funny looks, but everyone understands the concept.

"Obv" - I'm sure I just sound lazy.

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I still say "sarcarstic" after hearing Alexei Sayle pronounce it like that on The Young Ones.

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh yeah, I say urgent and key probably more than any of them. And I even dropped 'sodomising bee stick' into conversation a couple of months back.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Urgent & key gets used too. Even I have never said 'sodomising bee stick' out loud, though.

Jimmybommy JimmyK'KANG (Nick Southall), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I pronounce 'pwned' as if Welsh. 'Teh' is beginning to make appearances, oh no, interwebspeak, oh no. 'Asshat' and 'cockfarmer' are very satisfying expletives.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:16 (twenty-one years ago)

roxor, owned, teh

that's about it these days.

sometimes 'j00'

g-kit (g-kit), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I found out last week that my dad is a member of The Well community. They have FAPs and everything! I wonder if this means I can start sending him emails that go "OMG! WTF? ROTFL!" and he will know what I'm on about.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:41 (twenty-one years ago)

God, is that still going?

Alba (Alba), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

He sent me pictures of their last FAP. I was very tempted to send him the URL to pictures of our last FAP, but didn't want him going and joining ILX! My mum, yes. My dad, no.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:49 (twenty-one years ago)

teh, yuo, owned (especially watching the Olympics [Dad: what's happening right now? Me: oh my god dude the US just got OWNED by China]), roffle, lol sarcastically (dude makes lame joke WOW EL OH FRIGGIN EL DUDER), SO NOT NOISE

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

What is The Well Community?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 16 August 2004 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

It's the great daddy of all internet communities. And the first one to have no laws governing free speech, and therefore was the first to be overrun by 15 year old haX0r boyz talking smut. I should ask my dad if they're still there, and if not, how they got rid of them.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Monday, 16 August 2004 14:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe your dad is a 60 year old haX0r boy talking smut

Alba (Alba), Monday, 16 August 2004 14:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Yup, that's my dad in a nutshell. "Wine, women, song, and UNIX CAN SUCK A BIG BAG O DIXORS!!!"
