did anyone else get this thing foisted on them recently? Written by Richard Shapiro, a silicon valley venture capitalist, allegedly a giant pile of dog doo, he gave away like a hundred thousand pre-release copies of this in various places, including yesterday on market st. in SF. I avoided it assuming it was some religious tract, then hunted down info on it today.

"The novel tells the story of Sam Altman, a 22-year-old University of California-Berkeley student in the late 1960s who meets the 19-year-old love of his life at a violent protest. The two journey north in search of a deeper connection to the world- - a place, Sam sermonizes, ``where the molten heart is always flowing.''"

spare me now! sorry for inadvertently adding to the noise

where the molten heart is always flowing Tell me there was a happy ending where she takes him to a smouldering volcano and just boots his ass down into the crater.

Sounds like "Zabriskie Point" without the exploding house. Err, or maybe there is an exploding house.

They were passing them out at the Pac Bell Parking lot last night after the game.

And in July, at the San Diego Convention Center.
