So getting drunk and watching 10 things I hate about you which is of course v. v. sweet and funny and I notice on kate's binder -- a sticker for Poe! Remember Poe? I remember Poe! God poe used to be alternative and cool!

I get incredibly nostalgic listening to early nineties hardcore - even though at the time most of it was released I was only about twelve, and the hardest drug I'd taken was lemsip.

There was one song Poe did with a video where she was all filthy and like by a car or something and maybe they were washing the car, what was that song? It wasn't horrible.

oh yeah her. she was very okay. maybe that video was "hello, hello?"??"?"?""

Her brother wrote the scary book that is so hard to read, right? Then she made the soundtrack for it. They are a multimedia duo.

you gotta keep 'em separated.

seeing american pie and hearing harvey danger and big runga. it made me nostalgic, despite liking neither song at the time.

Whenever I hear that one Toadies song with the video about the killer, I think of NYC, 1996.

Gear! (Gear!), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 03:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Whenever I think of attempted pipe bombs in NYC subways I think of two blocks down from my sublet, Brooklyn, 1997.

- '91, just as Nevermind comes out, realising its cool to like kickass punk/metal music after all (I always used to hate that kind of music) and dancing round the coffee table at a friend's to it.
- Hearing "Dance of the Mad Bastards" by PWEI for the first time, at a club, bass vibrating up thru my feet, and being mightily impressed.
- New Years Eve 1999.

Poe is awesome, except for the "Hey Pretty" remix with excerpts from her brother's lame book. "Not A Virgin" is highly recommended.

It's an expression of solidarity.

one month passes...

Cleaning out my dresser (major cleaning over here) and I found my 90s swimsuit. I think it speaks for itself.

-- shiny
-- plaid
-- insanely high cut leg
-- you can't see the back, but know that it's scoop back (not racerback)

I used to wear this bathing suit in the early 90s.

Not sure this qualifies as 90s "beauty" tbqh but it's quite of its time

omg I can't believe I didn't have a bathing suit like that!

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Sunday, 21 August 2011 02:21 (fourteen years ago)

i had straight up racing suits in black and blue and I guess some kind of body dismorphia ish bc by all 90s rights i should've owned a plaid bikini c 1989-93.

i have nostalgic beauty memories of using telnet in the university library to chat with my boyfriend when he was out of town c. 1996. Mid to late 90s was the height of my online chat existence! I have hardly used the new-fangled chat post-2002. why, I don't know.

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Sunday, 21 August 2011 02:32 (fourteen years ago)

ha! i had a plaid bra too. it had a rather large bow in the middle. (i got rid of that a long time ago and for some reason i kept this swimsuit as some kind of...badge of honor?)

oh I def had plaid bras and flower-patterned bras in both small flower and overly big flower patterns.
