Stuffin' interns

The vice of the white-collar worker existence.

lock the damn thread, that's perfect.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Has anyone ever tried one of those home-working jobs, where they send you envelopes, and pay you for how many you send out? If so, did it pay anything at all??

hobart paving (hobart paving), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 15:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I know... that sounds like a dream job. So much of what I do at work now would be vastly improved by simultaneously watching a DVD.

with your hands free

Penelope_111 (Penelope_111), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm "making labels" which is a close cousin of the "stuffing envelopes"

kelsey (kelstarry), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Jokes about shagging interns = STILL FUNNY IN 2004

if you're a MONGOLOID RETARD STUPID FUCK FROM PLANET DUMBSHIT AND I HATE YOU.

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 18 August 2004 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Not shagging, stuffin'. It's a new twist.

Harold Media (kenan), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I did this for a while when I was about 22. Then I took the series 7 and took a dump on the envelopes.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

So - is that sort of job a con, or does it pay okay?
I'm thinking along the same lines as Harold with that DVD.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I just have a shitty office job where they make me do crap like this despite them requiring a college degree to apply for the job. Because non-college educated folk are too dumb to stuff envelopes.

eat fudge banana swirl (Nick A.), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

it's more of a con to do it without pay, ie. as an intern.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Seriously, it was one of the worst jobs i ever had. It made the porno job seem like heaven.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Ian, the "stuffing envelopes for £££" jobs is a pyramid scheme. Yes, all you do is stuff envelopes - but you have to get money sent to you by the people who receive those envelopes before you make any cash. If they choose to ignore your probably illegal ponzi activities, you're wasting your own time and money.

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 15:46 (twenty-one years ago)

uh, is there not email spam in the UK?

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 15:47 (twenty-one years ago)

No. UK = cyberutopia!

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 15:48 (twenty-one years ago)

okay so why ponzi schemes by mail then?

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 15:50 (twenty-one years ago)

It's what happened before the internet. Presumably dumb people who might be suckered into it are too dumb to use the internet - the dumb people who DO use the internet have no doubt all been snared by the ponzi spammers.

(let's not forget, though, that if you manage to start a successful scheme of this kind you'll be rolling in it!)

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 15:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Because non-college educated folk are too dumb to stuff envelopes.

Actually, we're too smart to stuff envelopes. We were also too smart to go to college, as well.

Suckahs and their tuition bills, HA!

Worse - I had the job stuffing enormous envelopes full of envelopes to send to envelope---stuffers.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 16:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish my current summer job would let me do something as nice and comfortable as stuffing letters... Thank good I've got only two weeks left.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 16:03 (twenty-one years ago)

It's been so many years since this office has had an intern to stuff.
