Image File Online Storage Question - Help Need URGENT!

Tripod UK have sent an email detailing their plans to fuck me over. Apparently bandwidth has been suspiciously high for all the images I'm storing with them - it seems you're not allowed to use Tripod UK pages as storage space. Thay can tell, and now they're planning to cut me off and fuck my blog up at the earliest opportunity.

I need to shift a load of image files onto a new storage space that won't mind having people actually look at them via a blog. Is there such a thing? And is it free?

Vic Fluro, Wednesday, 18 August 2004 18:52 (twenty-one years ago)

USE SEARCH

())(())()()()(()(LASER)()()()LA(Z)E(R)()()()((L)()()(A)(S(E)R()()()) (ex machina, Wednesday, 18 August 2004 18:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay, let's try again. Is there anybody with personal experience of this kind of thing who would like to be nice and recommend me a good place to keep image files?

And please don't just bellow USE SEARCH at me.

Vic Fluro, Wednesday, 18 August 2004 19:03 (twenty-one years ago)

photobucket.com?

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 19:05 (twenty-one years ago)

It's weird. It seems like there are some answers on previously opened threads about this. USE QUERY.

Now that ImageMagician has started charging, I was wondering if there any good image hosting places that allow remote linking out there?
I am considering paying for image magician, but don't have a visa (other than electron) or credit card.

I use photobox.co.uk, which seems to allow direct linking.. sometimes. It's odd.

thanks N, I'll check it out.

Jel, I admire your imagesof red square with a crosses in them mind games.
(I think it might work for you cause it's in your cache or you have nice cookies)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ah! that's what I mean about graffiti.net they seem to be inconsistent!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Even yahoo/geocities lets you see the image if you've viewed it in proper context first. It's cacheing.

That's true N, but I take it from Mitch's response that he saw it, unless he was kidding?

yeah, must be! oh well! I will try photobox.
-- jel -- (freeduni...) (webmail), February 10th, 2003 9:13 AM. (jel) (link)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i definitely see a painting. the right hand looks kind of like pink bubbles merging or maybe a close up of buttocks if you are a pervertalist. it did take a while to load the first time.
-- mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchnet7...) (webmail), February 10th, 2003 9:13 AM. (mitchlnw) (link)

It seems to take a very very long time to download, rather than being specifically blocked.

MIne starts contacting graffiti.net when I refresh but then pretends it didn't.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jel, do you want confirmation that other ILXers can see it?
I can see it. (Bookshelf with TV, phone directory, etc.) And I can't see the one you posted near the top of the thread.

What hosting website are you using now?

-- Paul in Santa Cruz (pauna...) (webmail), February 23rd, 2003 11:06 AM. (Paul in Santa Cruz) (link)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks!
It's weird the TV is from angelfire account. Maybe, they are allowing remote hosting again.

-- jel -- (freeduni...) (webmail), February 23rd, 2003 11:40 AM. (jel) (link)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can see the one of the TV fine. The one of the (very nice) painting I saw when you first posted it. Now it downloads, as Graham says, incredibly slowly. It's a very large file isn't it. Maybe there's a problem when a number of people are simultaneously trying to download it (as in now when this thread is near the top of the pile).
On a more general note: maybe I've been very fortunate but I've always relied on the webspace provided with my various ISP dial-up accounts and never have any of these problems. I have large numbers of images linked from eBay auction pages and they all load reliably
(I delete my browser cache after every session so the images are downloading fresh each time).

-- David (huntsma...) (webmail), February 23rd, 2003 11:41 AM. (David) (link)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh, David you are right (thanks)! I didn't realise that the first one is nearly a 1MB. Weird! I usually check the size before I upload them. I shall remove it from my account.

This was a spectacularly stupid way to treat one of the smartest and cleverest folks I know. The subject may have come up before and I certainly can be short on the point of duplicate threads, but directly linking a couple of threads and leaving it at that would have been fine enough.

Really? You have that style (that and somethingawful) - the comedy pix telling people to use search/call the wahhmbulance/some pic of arnie or dubya or wtf ever is very fark, and other such boards (gamez boards and stuff). Nothing wrong with that I guess ;P I have a gamer for a partner... I cant escape it :(

Well this thread was usefull for me, I now have a photbucket account and have posted my visage onto thee 'current what do you look like' thread.

However! It would have been better for the greater good of ilxanity to have used the search function and bumped it if you had any other queries. Saves clutter.

OK, this thread is kind of crazy...

But, what online storage DO people use nowadays? Or am i just better off getting one of them terrabyte storage thingys?

for pix i just use flickr.

people use flickr but if you have enough to justify getting a terrabyte drive, i would think that you should buy one.
