Have you and yr luggage parted company whilst you were travelling?

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 20 August 2004 11:11 (twenty-one years ago)

actually I'm back home now and avoiding doing what I should be doing e.g. checking to see whether I've got a spare toothbrush and toothpaste or whether I should go to Boots and buy some. I rang the lost luggage helpline an hour or so ago and they said that they should be able to get the bag to me tomorrow.

one of the worst aspects is the fact that my mobile phone is in the bag.

Eek. Did you get to go to Tallinn as well, or is your luggage just off having a good time without you?

Archel (Archel), Friday, 20 August 2004 11:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Ooh, bad luck. Is your luggage on a stag do?

robster (robster), Friday, 20 August 2004 11:16 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, I got there and back safely and had a good time there thx, despite the fact that it rained most of the time. 40 bags were loaded onto the plane then unloaded again coz there were strong cross-winds and they were worried the plane would be too heavy. I had to fill in a form describing the bag and listing some of the contents. I must've sounded a real alky coz the first couple of items I mentioned were bouze.

Party at Gatwick Lost Luggage tonight!

robster (robster), Friday, 20 August 2004 11:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha. I have never had this happen. I believe it's a sign of an unadventurous life. (Have only even been on a plane once in the last 10 years I think and if you lose your luggage on a train it's usually just because you're forgetful.)

Archel (Archel), Friday, 20 August 2004 11:33 (twenty-one years ago)

The only time I've ever been separated from my luggage for any distressing length of time was when my luggage and I were held separately under armed guard in Newark Airport from 9/11/2001 to 9/14/2001.

I'm sure my luggage posed a far greater thread to American national security than I. ;-)

I meant THREAT!!!

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 20 August 2004 11:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Threads are threats!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 20 August 2004 11:45 (twenty-one years ago)

the more intuitive typo (if typos can be intuitive) would've been TREAT to national security......

i took the wrong luggage once at heathrow airport - it looked suspeciously like mine..i only realised i got the wrong one when, i got ALL THE WAY down to the underground tickets buying and i wondered why my luggage felt so heavy.. SHIT IT'S NOT MINE - I felt so ill, i was already sweating like a lying man in hell and i had to drag that piece of shit all the way back to the place and not knowing whether i'll get my things back (i think it had an LCD monitor in it at the time!!).

Luckily it was still there (and a couple waiting for theirs cos i took them), I was a dumbass and I apologised all over myself.

and then i dragged my real luggage all the way back to the train and thought about crying but i ran out of bodily fluid cos of all the sweating.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 20 August 2004 12:12 (twenty-one years ago)

the crying bit was made up.. i was so glad to get my bags back.

well, the helpful bag delivery mang just rang, and he should have my bag delivered to my house (yay!) at 2AM tomorrow morning (not so yay!).

I'll be able to shave again.

I lost my luggage when I went on holiday to Hong Kong last summer. The airline 'forgot' to put it on the plane, so it was still in Heathrow, while I was on the other side of the world. In theory it should have arrived the next day, but I was due to leave for Toyko before the plane from London arrived. So that night I had a massive shopping spree to find clothes for the week in Japan (thanks to shops that don't close till 10pm). And then BA paid for all that shopping as well = lots of free clothes!

someone appears to have nicked one of the bottles of Vana Tallinn. Bugger.
