Fountain of Youth

This is not a thread about the Candyland song or Big John, Little John.

Rather, a discussion I had last night with colleagues in Pizza Express. Someone was saying that working in the publishing industry must keep you looking young, coz work ppl they discover are actually in their thirties look like they are actually in their early twenties.


Question is, is this actually possible? Is it conceivable that the job one does (which, like it or not, is for the full-time employed, where we spend most of our time) can actually keep you looking young in some way?

I don't think so, I would think lifestyle or just plain luck would have more to do with it than career.

I'm pretty sure it can work the other way. I used to work with someone who was a couple of years older than me, but lived on a narrowboat and had worked as a forester in the past and he looked considerably older than he actually was and quite wizened. I'm sure this was to do with having aotugh life doing tough jobs in the open air.
