How are you wasting your Sunday?

Discouraged by the dearth of locksmiths that are open for business on Sunday (when will this archaic custom cease?), I've decided to spend the remainder of the morning reading the lyrics to Siamese Dream on the internet.

Do I need to answer that? But I'm still expecting to make it to the gym this afternoon. I am very unhappy with the spare tire I have developed in the last two years and it has got to go. Spending so much time sitting in front of my PC doesn't help.

Just finished watching a bootleg DVD copy of A Certain Treasured Film By Many Here that will apparently never be released in its original version officially. Finishing ripping some CDs, downloading like mad on slsk. In an hour or so, I'll finally be off to an oft-delayed but finally nailed down going away beach party for my good friend Ben, who is off to Amsterdam tomorrow for a year's study.

(x-post) And there's me worrying about the 400 songs that don't have titles or artists...

I've been lounging around with a hangover and, for some reason, I've really enjoyed it. I know the reason, now I think about it - it's because we have an extra day this weekend, and I did stuff yesterday and have a full day's activities planned for tomorrow. I also got to speak to Sarah (who's gallivanting around Massachusetts) much earlier than expected, so that made me glow too.

As for what I actually did - well, I'm still in my dressing gown (and Sarah's totally comfy scrubs) so going out was a no-no. I did try and unblock my kitchen sink, using this thing that is basically a waterjet in a can. Unfortunately, I'd forgotten to seal my washing machine overflow pipe, so instead of clearing the pipes, I managed to spray a large quantity of DISGUSTING black goo over a fair proportion of the kitchen. So clearing that up was fun.

nickn (nickn), Monday, 30 August 2004 01:30 (twenty-one years ago)

got up late, hangover-ish. Watched a little of the beginning of the protest on TV, then got inspired to overcome hangover and go. Met up with roommate and last year's subletter (not the crappy one from this summer) at the hamburger stand in Madison Park. Walked with them down to Union Square, caught a couple "dance routines" (hey doofuses - Britney supports Dubya), then went to Tompkins Square Park to see if the police were gonna arrest these "anarchists." Was amused for about 15 minutes of crazy anarchist ranting ("stand up and do something!!! you fucking idiots!!!" - yeah that's a good way to persuade people). Then went to a bar with roommate, subletter, UK girl and AUS girl (nice, never met them before). Met up with lauren, then the two of us got dinner. Then a weirdly long subway ride home, and here I am.

Worked at the water treatment plant in the a.m. Played hearts for a while on the computer while there. Walked the dog. Cut the grass. Made my wife's lunch for her workday. Returned foul milk to the store and got a new gallon. Read the Sunday paper at lunch. Took a nap. Awoke to a thunderstorm. walked the dog again. Took a bath. Read baseball scores on line.

jim wentworth (wench), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Just got back from that going away party on the beach. Absolutely great time -- beautiful clear day, good strong ocean breeze to keep it from being too hot, got a fire pit going, toasted hot dogs and made s'mores and about eight of us sat around, chewed the fat, relaxed and made a day of it. Rah for Ben, off to Amsterdam! He'll do just fine.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:19 (twenty-one years ago)

That sounds like right out of an Annette Funicello Movie, Ned.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Dragged all the leftover stuff down to the garage for easy moving on Tuesday. Hung out for a bit at the aforementioned beach party Ned was at. Came home and am enjoying my last night at the apartment with a beer and an open wireless access point I just discovered.
