kelsey (kelstarry), Monday, 30 August 2004 19:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Apparantly, Beef. Beef is for dinner.

Huck, Monday, 30 August 2004 19:15 (twenty-one years ago)

green beans with glazed cashews and cumin. steak with a garlic/sherry sauce. purple potatoes.

amateur!!st, Monday, 30 August 2004 19:16 (twenty-one years ago)

This is the most useful thread ever on ILX, and you don't even need to read past the first post:
Asparagus appointment

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 30 August 2004 19:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Except asparagus is not my favorite at all.

Here's what I have ingredient-wise at home:

Collard greens
Onions
garlic
cauliflower
tomatoes
green beans
one leek
spinach
roasted red peppers (from a jar)
plus your average variety of pasta/rice/etc.
and some cheddar cheese.

kelsey (kelstarry), Monday, 30 August 2004 19:19 (twenty-one years ago)

oh...and i have tofu & tempeh.

kelsey (kelstarry), Monday, 30 August 2004 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

It's lunch. I am eating homemade chilli. My pet woman made it for me.

adam. (nordicskilla), Monday, 30 August 2004 19:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Make a baked ziti with free tomatoes & spinach layered among the cheese. (i think cheddar might be good, but if you're not DOWN then get some mozzarella or something.)

FWIW, dinner tonight for me is a mozz & tomato omelette and homefries.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Monday, 30 August 2004 19:22 (twenty-one years ago)

But have you had roasted asparagus? It's better than slimy old regular asparagus. Especially if you let it get all brown and cruncy. Mmm.

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 30 August 2004 19:22 (twenty-one years ago)

i tend to favor roasted veggies in general . . . roasting is what turned me on to brussel sprouts. but sometimes it's just so bitter.

kelsey (kelstarry), Monday, 30 August 2004 19:23 (twenty-one years ago)

coat the asparagus with some sort of delicious honey-based glaze pre-baking.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Monday, 30 August 2004 19:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Awesome Chicken. You need:

1. chicken breast with no bone. either cutlets or the whole thing or whatever you want, doesn't matter. just no bone.
2. sriracha chili sauce (you know, with the rooster on it).
3. curry powder.
4. soy sauce (preferably some of the good kind that is a little thicker and has some seasonings in it).
5. teflon coated frying pan.
6. small bowl.
7. basting brush.

Mix like one tablespoon of the soy sauce, one tablespoon of hot sauce, and like a teaspoon of the curry powder all together in the bowl. Depends how much chicken you have to cover I guess. I never use real measures for anything anymore.

Cover both sides of the chicken with the sauce. Heat up the pan, medium to high heat, and throw the chicken on. While cooking, flip the chicken over a few times and re-baste with the brush. You want to keep it sort of the same color the whole time, both sides. Stick a fork in it, make sure it's done, serve with rice or salad or whatever floats your boat.

xpost kosher salt and garlic pepper for the asparagus, glaze with extra virgin olive oil and bake in oven on pan until crisp!

TOMBOT, Monday, 30 August 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

All you gotta do is cook some pasta in one dish, saute some variation of veggies in another, throw some spices up in there, voila! food.

ha ha best recipe ever tobmot

R.I.M.A. (Barima), Monday, 30 August 2004 19:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I am feeling so uninspired by food in general. Nothing sounds good to me lately.

I like the fact that 'Dinner' and 'Dance' are the top two threads. A nice old fashioned date.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Monday, 30 August 2004 20:16 (twenty-one years ago)

We need a "MOVIE" thread. And a "DOIN' IT" thread.

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 30 August 2004 20:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Unfortunately, threads about urinating on people are attempting to defile the pleasant evening.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Monday, 30 August 2004 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)

let's get some more dinner ideas brewing, then.

kelsey (kelstarry), Monday, 30 August 2004 20:23 (twenty-one years ago)

My dinner plans involve microwaving frozen vegetarian corn dogs.

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Monday, 30 August 2004 20:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm lazy and too hungry to actually chop stuff and fry it and/or bake it. I actually have yet to use my oven!!

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Monday, 30 August 2004 20:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Stir-fry the green beans with a whole lot of soy sauce and sesame seeds. It sounds kinda weird but it's really good.

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 30 August 2004 20:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I'm addicted to pizza.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 30 August 2004 20:33 (twenty-one years ago)

seriously the green bean dish i mentioned is really good. i can try and get the recipe for you....

amateur!!st, Monday, 30 August 2004 20:34 (twenty-one years ago)

You've been worried about that addiction for some time, jaymc.
i think i'm addicted to sesame seeds. what i might do is steam the collard greens & throw a tiny amount of sesame oil on them & then some freshly toasted sesame seeds.
it's the main course i don't have an idea for.
i could make mac & cheese with onions, garlic, spinach & roasted red peppers . . . but i made that last week. it was pretty tasty, but do i want that much dairy?
oh the woes at 4:35.

i'd love the recipe (xpost)

kelsey (kelstarry), Monday, 30 August 2004 20:35 (twenty-one years ago)

That mac & cheese sounds really good.

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 30 August 2004 20:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I always used to make fun of Nicolas for his pizza addiction. I think I'm turning into him.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 30 August 2004 20:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I LOVE PIZZA. I WANT TO EAT IT ALL THE TIME.

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 30 August 2004 20:37 (twenty-one years ago)

the mac & cheese is quite awesome, actually. i just don't know if it's what i'm in the mood for. maybe i should make it anyway & have it for lunches this week.

or i could make homemade pizza, i guess.

kelsey (kelstarry), Monday, 30 August 2004 20:38 (twenty-one years ago)

just eat it all the time, n/a... I know a few people with burger addictions, but none with pizza addictions - except for the teenage mutant ninja turtles of course.

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Monday, 30 August 2004 20:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Sarah never wants to eat pizza though, because she's all into eating healthy stuff. Whatever.

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 30 August 2004 20:43 (twenty-one years ago)

STIR-FRIED BEANS WITH LEMON AND CASHEWS

2 tablespoons palm or brown sugar

Heat butter in a frypan or wok over medium heat. Add cashews to pan and stir fry for 2 minutes.

Add beans to pan and stir fry for 3 minutes or until beans are crisp but tender.

Add lemon juice, sugar, soy sauce and mint to pan and cook for 1 minute or until heated through. Serve with couscous.

Serves 4.

amateur!!st, Monday, 30 August 2004 20:44 (twenty-one years ago)

that sounds great. i only have one kind of green bean, tho!

kelsey (kelstarry), Monday, 30 August 2004 20:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I had two plums and a handful of AllBran - num num.

Lara (Lara), Monday, 30 August 2004 20:47 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, you can make it w/ one kind of green bean. it looks cool with the mutlticolored beans though. (although purple beans turn green when you fry them!!! i learned this yesterday.)

amateur!!st, Monday, 30 August 2004 20:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, that does sound pretty good, Am.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 30 August 2004 20:49 (twenty-one years ago)

n/a - then obviously you need to get sarah addicted to pizza, too.

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Monday, 30 August 2004 20:50 (twenty-one years ago)

purple peppers are the same way. curious. purple potatoes retain their color.

kelsey (kelstarry), Monday, 30 August 2004 20:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know, she has, like, will power and shit. Weird.

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 30 August 2004 20:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I LOVE PIZZA. I WANT TO EAT IT ALL THE TIME.
