Are we "speaking"?

I often (and just did) type "as we speak", but we're not speaking are we? We are sat in living rooms and offices, silently typing and clicking away. It saddens me to think that I may never hear many of your unique voices and regional accents.

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:31 (twenty-one years ago)

You'll meet a few of us as you go. And I'll always be reading the almanac and pi in your ear.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I am totally not speaking to any of you.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:32 (twenty-one years ago)

You could always call people up. if they let you.

scott seward (scott seward), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:32 (twenty-one years ago)

AND YET YOUR VOICE IS IN MY HEAD, DAN.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Didn't someone start a "What Do You Sound Like?" thread once? Maybe it's time to revive it.

o. nate (onate), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:33 (twenty-one years ago)

My voice goes where the candy is!

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:33 (twenty-one years ago)

does dan sound like darth vader?

scott seward (scott seward), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't be so logocentric!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned, did I tell you that Sarah thinks you sound like Harry Shearer?

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:34 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG if Ned sounds like Harry Shearer SO MUCH WOULD MAKE SENSE!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah fuck it, what do you sound like?

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:35 (twenty-one years ago)

FWIW, Adam, I am told I laugh somewhat like a cross between Krusty the Clown and a coked-up Eddie Murphy.

xpost oh yeah that thread!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:36 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG if Ned sounds like Harry Shearer SO MUCH WOULD MAKE SENSE!

Heh heh heh. I like this image. And yes, refer to the thread Alba linked for sound samples and more.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I sound like Quasimodo. Typing makes me sound like David Niven.

andy, Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I suppose if the Simpsons actors go on strike they could at least get Ned in to do principal Skinner and a few others. And Nickalicious to do Krusty's laugh.

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:37 (twenty-one years ago)

If anyone wants to give me a call at work, it's a toll-free number. Though no one took me up on my offer of faxes last week.

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:38 (twenty-one years ago)

What does jess sound like?

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I sound like Hans Moleman.

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:38 (twenty-one years ago)

WTF, look at this on that other thread:

[My voice] is probably the only thing I'm not shy about....

-- Spencer Chow (spencercho...), October 23rd, 2002.

You are SO not shy, Spencer. You do however have a brilliant speaking voice, yes.

they could at least get Ned in to do principal Skinner and a few others

"I GUESS you could say we COOKED Uter and ATE him..."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Spencer's voice is amazing.

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:39 (twenty-one years ago)

And what about the voice of Jon Williams? Is it very high? I wonder if he talks like an ordinary guy?

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I spoke to him on the phone the other week during Jeremy FAP, but it was noisy and I was somewhat inebriated.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:41 (twenty-one years ago)

how apt.

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I imagine Jon Williams sounding like Joe Pesci. Because it's funny.

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:43 (twenty-one years ago)

It's even funnier if you imagine that everyone talks like the squeaky-voiced teen on the simpsons who is always saying: "may i take your order, sir?"

scott seward (scott seward), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:47 (twenty-one years ago)

WE HAVE AN AIRHOCKEY TABLE!!!

C@C@ P@NIZZZZZZZZZZZZZTON (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Jon Williams called me last night and spoke with a mumbly slightly hurried lilt. He was drunk and doesn't remember doing this.

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Did he talk dirty to you?

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:49 (twenty-one years ago)

And why didn't you note my Pavement reference?

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:50 (twenty-one years ago)

The person I imagine talking in a high-pitched, squeaky voice is Ethan. I always think of him as Owen Meaney in my mind, if you familiar with that book.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I heard Ethan had a very "cultured" and "effeminate" voice actually.

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:52 (twenty-one years ago)

That's nice.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:54 (twenty-one years ago)

yes

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't understand anything Adam says.

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:56 (twenty-one years ago)

You two are like a Sopor-ridden Chip and Dale.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm actually Eritrean pensioner, and work at a railway office in Asmara. But here, in this virtual world, I see myself as a kick-back California "dude" with plenty of free time for cool buds and tasty waves. So... that is how I sound.

andy, Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Adam, what are your brother's thoughts on the American accent?

bwahaha?

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I have a very "morning zoo crew" voice. I can't help it.

Huck, Tuesday, 31 August 2004 19:57 (twenty-one years ago)

i imagine ethan's voice as a cross between edward said's radical-patrician perfect diction and my boyhood friend's little brother Cameron, who started smoking when he was 12 and stole his step-dad's camaro

g--ff (gcannon), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 20:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Adam, what are your brother's thoughts on the American accent?

?

I don't know, I will ask him and tell you what he says. There are a lot of subjects that he doesn't feel one way or the other about, and I suspect that this might be one of them.

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 20:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I love how everybody still talks about Ethan on here when he hasn't posted anything in like FOREVER. I miss him.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 20:01 (twenty-one years ago)

hhhaahhhperrr my voice goes where the candy is haaaaahhhperrrrr

Darth Perry (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 20:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know, I will ask him and tell you what he says. There are a lot of subjects that he doesn't feel one way or the other about, and I suspect that this might be one of them.

hehe, i think he had trouble understanding the accent. just my guess tho. :-D

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 20:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think he enjoyed Black Dice at all. I think he would like them to sound more like The Strokes.

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 20:05 (twenty-one years ago)

wait, even more than they already do?

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 20:07 (twenty-one years ago)

EVEN more.

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 20:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I've been told by more than one person that I talk like Tobey Macguire (sp?) playing Peter Parker.

I REALLY hope this isn't true.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 17:02 (twenty-one years ago)

People say I sound like Bob Geldof

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 18:18 (twenty-one years ago)
