I totally had that horse TK in middle school. Ah, the memories. . .

quincie, Wednesday, 15 September 2004 19:05 (twenty-one years ago)

What are they for, please?

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 19:37 (twenty-one years ago)

It's basically a pocket folder with holes punched out so you can put it in a binder. You put papers and such in the pockets. Preteen girls like them because they have neon rainbows and unicorns and kittens on them. Welcome to America.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 19:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Beware the Dawson's Creek Trapper Keeper Ultrakeeper Futura 2000:

bert (bert), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 20:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmmm...let's try that again:

bert (bert), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Ahhh... sod ya then.

bert (bert), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 20:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I had like 4 different Lisa Frank ones, all featuring kittens and seals, which I then further decorated with--wait for it--Lisa Frank stickers, all featuring kittens and seals.

In retrospect, this is disgusting.

Allyzay Science Explosion (allyzay), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 22:58 (twenty-one years ago)

were the stickers puffy, or were they glittery?

Lt. Kingfish Del Pickles (Kingfish), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 23:56 (twenty-one years ago)

also, while cleaning out storage bins of the first 28 years of my life, i found my sticker book from age 8 or 9.

it still had Garbage Pail Kids stickers...

needless to say, i kept it.

Lt. Kingfish Del Pickles (Kingfish), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 23:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Some were puffy but the puffy ones tended to get weird, they either peeled back off or they would break and leave, just, puff on your notebook.

Allyzay Science Explosion (allyzay), Thursday, 16 September 2004 00:08 (twenty-one years ago)

the best are the scratch and sniff.
although the pizza stickers were always really stinky.

are lisa frank and paul frank in cahoots? i think they ar.e

Catty (Catty), Thursday, 16 September 2004 00:32 (twenty-one years ago)

God could you imagine if they combined forces? Holy shit.

Allyzay Science Explosion (allyzay), Thursday, 16 September 2004 00:34 (twenty-one years ago)

three years pass...

http://www.trapperkeeper.com/

kingfish, Sunday, 20 July 2008 16:57 (seventeen years ago)

Anyone else's schools (elementary/jr high) ban these?

milo z, Sunday, 20 July 2008 17:10 (seventeen years ago)

surprisingly, no (the nuns were big on banning things). I had the exact one in the first photo on this thread

daria-g, Sunday, 20 July 2008 17:14 (seventeen years ago)

crapper keeper

libcrypt, Sunday, 20 July 2008 17:35 (seventeen years ago)

three years pass...

My junior high banned these. Official explanation was that they "didn't fit properly in student lockers" which wasn't true since half the school had them anyway. Iirc, there was a mini-uproar only because the school decided to notify people about the ban two weeks into the school year and parents were pissed about having spent money on something two weeks prior that was already banned.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 6 September 2011 02:16 (fourteen years ago)

lol at trapper keeper ban, wtf?

dell (del), Tuesday, 6 September 2011 02:26 (fourteen years ago)

I kinda remember the reasoning behind the bans was along the lines of "Kids can smuggle weapons in them" or "The artwork is offensive" (this was the time of "No Fear" and such).

Status Update...in my Seether? (C. Grisso/McCain), Tuesday, 6 September 2011 02:31 (fourteen years ago)

I think the real reason they got banned at our school was that some kids were trying to steal them from other kids.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 6 September 2011 02:36 (fourteen years ago)

I mean I think it may be hard for people that weren't at that age when those were popular, but for a couple of years Trapper Keepers were like the biggest school supply thing ever. At my school you were judged by how cool yours was (iirc, the girls with the horse ones were lowest on the scale, the more abstract Lisa Frank ones were for the cool clique girls), if you didn't have one you didn't even rate on the social scale.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 6 September 2011 02:37 (fourteen years ago)

I had an off-brand one :/

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 6 September 2011 02:38 (fourteen years ago)

Mine had an F-16 on it. (lol young me wanting to be in the air force)
