really only one stage-Vibe Bar, totally packed. Not so much as a note of Bangra, overpriced/poor quality curry. i thought it sucked, plus what exactly was it a festival of? I think is was a celebration of a few buisnessmen both legitimate and otherwise who saw potential in the place, and who now never visit it on account of how comfortable their tropical islands are.

Um, the only festie worth going to down there is for the Bangla Mela - Bangladeshi new year celebrations. Anything else feels kind of gross and incomery.

I was at the Bangla Mela this year - by accident, actually, but it was great.

Yes, i spent an hour or so on Brick Lane waiting for something approaching the definition of festival to happen. Unless you count excessive numbers of people, officious policing, overpriced food, etc etc. The bangla Mela is, indeed, more colourful and more like a real carnival/festival.
