Sam wants to know how you be

Hey kids,

I have a working computer in my home once again so I thought I'd stop by and say hello. Now that I'm pretty-well weaned off of ILX I'm not sure how active I'll be (just looking at all of the active threads makes my head spin). But I have missed everybody and wanted to see how you're doing. The demise of my desktop and laptop meant that I've lost everybody's email address since 1998.

I'm doing well, much, much better than when I was last active here.

We're almost done with the first six weeks of school and I'm loving. We have a new administrator and it's amazing what a difference that makes. I'm still struggling a bit with all of the non-teaching work but we've played with/added to my medications so I'm being patient and happy for the change I have realized.

Since my last stint in the hospital I've gone completely sober and am amazed at how much happier I am. I go to bed by ten and pretty much am wrapped up in school. lame.

Miss Misery (thatgirl), Monday, 13 September 2004 22:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Nothing lame about feeling better all around. :-)

gaz (gaz), Monday, 13 September 2004 23:02 (twenty-one years ago)

You didn't answer the post's original question Ned. (or gaz)

Miss Misery (thatgirl), Monday, 13 September 2004 23:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi Sam! Me and Di were talking yesterday about how we miss you! Your bedtime pleases me, as does your happiness at work and in general. I am really good. I finished working at the museum and now I am working on various art projects.

rainy (rainy), Monday, 13 September 2004 23:06 (twenty-one years ago)

You didn't answer the post's original question Ned

I am quite well!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 13 September 2004 23:06 (twenty-one years ago)

pretty good in general; very happy to hear that things are going so well for you.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 13 September 2004 23:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi Sam. I'm extant.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 13 September 2004 23:10 (twenty-one years ago)

hey sam, hope you're doing well, and it's definitely good to hear from you.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 13 September 2004 23:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi Sam! I got married earlier this month and today I got a job working for the Democrats in Missouri, so things are excellent. Glad to hear from you and I'm glad you're doing better--going to bed at a decent, regular hour can sometimes really help one's mental state.

teeny (teeny), Monday, 13 September 2004 23:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay teeny!! Big congrats!

I'm glad all seems well in ILx-land. (at least for those who posted.)

Miss Misery (thatgirl), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 00:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Sam hi! Glad you've recovered, I was worried for you, and that you're off the dread drink is something to be damn fucking proud of :)

I'm about to lose my job, but this is a good thing, as they are going to give me loads of money, so I'm happy - new start.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 00:51 (twenty-one years ago)

i finally moved to portland. Am currently broke, but we'll see what this week's job interviews lead to.

Lt. Kingfish Del Pickles (Kingfish), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 02:32 (twenty-one years ago)

sam you know I think
how I am if you're reading
my big old blog thing

but I am SO GLAD
that this year is kicking ass
(just don't get too psyched

and get blindsided
by the first big old bad news
that comes down the pike)

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 03:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi Sam! I'm tired, stressed out, frustrated, disgusted with myself, lonely, dealing with feelings of abandonment, stuck in a rut, and just generally in a big old poo-ball of malaise. You?

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 06:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey Sam, this is LC but you remember me as Ramosi. I'm glad you're off the Bobby, just like me. Doesn't your lower back feel better?

LC, Tuesday, 14 September 2004 07:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey! I was wondering how things were going for you. It's good to hear that everything is on the way up for you. As for me, well I have finally purchased my house & am now dealing with a flood! *sigh* ah well, at least it's insured! Take care honey!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 07:48 (twenty-one years ago)

LC, Bobby is the green stuff, correct? What's it got to do with lower back fatigue? Or is that just kidneys hating on smokers?

Sam - all of that sounds good. Right now I'm working as an art consultant, which is going well as boss thinks I am a perfectionist, not a procrastinator. Big fashion company whose head is a massive art collector needs their gender imbalance sorting out, as manufacture women's clothes, so have just submitted proposal for them to sponsor prize for female video artists (collector likes video). But also doing the magazine thing; two friends have just been hired by the same company (one of whom has been keeping me sane at ESM) and promise work, ESM is ticking over, Ed good although annoyed at work.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 07:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm delighted you sound so happy now, and I really hope it continues. I've been through a very bad time (I may be finished... if you're interested, but it's pretty miserable reading) but I'm over the worst now and recovering - I've had my meds increased too. I hope you can hang around here.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 08:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi Sam, glad you're doing well. I've been having a pretty quiet, broke summer but things are good really. I got my first review last week (just a third of the single paragraph devoted to our book but still! I am 'laconic' apparently...)

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 08:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Ooh, day has just got better. Have just had conversation with editor's assistant at Poshmag, who is sending me commissioning form for £300 job that took an hour to write up and another hour just spraffing with editor on phone to complete. Poshmag Company also see you're paid as soon as you invoice, really, which winds up being well before publication. Yay.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:02 (twenty-one years ago)

sam! fucking cool to see you on here! i still read your blog every day, and man am i glad to hear things are working out for you!!!!

as for me, its been a tough weekend, cos i did something really dumb and then today i found out that my little brother had been in hospital over the weekend. so i have spent about three days bawling my eyes out over all that stuff. but my brother got out of hospital yesterday and hes okay, and i got forgiven for the dumb thing i did, now i can get my shit back together and concentrate on finishing up the second international telepaths album, preparing for the shutups support slot for hawnay troof in two weeks, working on my thesis and preparing for my trip to the states which is only 34 days away. :-) CAN'T FUCKING WAIT.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 09:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm pretty good thanks S :)

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

HI SAM
Glad to hear you're on the straight and narrow. Things in Chicago are pretty good. Question: should I be a teacher?
love,
Nick

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi Sam. Glad to here you're doing well. I'm doing fair to middling.

Michael White (Hereward), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey Sam!
I saw a man urinating against my building last night! But I'm moving at the end of the month, so thing's're gonna be all right. Except my new neighbourhood is called Peeview, but I'm sure that's just a name.
Glad to hear you're doing better, keep it up!

Huk-L, Tuesday, 14 September 2004 14:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Sammy,

Miss ya! Sad news: Both of my Dall-vega$ friends skipped town to Austin. :-( Sell-outs.

g!

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 15:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, Sam! I'm glad you are feeling healthier/happier. You sound like you took a vacation of sorts, very relaxed.

I'm having fun in Chicago. My job can be lame sometimes, but the band is fun, and we've had lots of visitors.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 15:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey sugarpie - glad to hear you're so well - I've missed you!

Ain't nothin' changed around here - still working and dreaming of brighter days.
