Gmail - Can I Do This?

I've got five unused gmail accounts, and I actually would like to use one for a secondary account for myself. (I want a webmail account with my real name that I can give to potential freelance clients.) I'd like to know if I can send an invite to my work email. Does that work, or does the system "know" you're trying to cheat it???

no you should be able to create multiple accounts just fine

you can do it.

five unused gmail accounts

For "accounts" read "invites". Also, that would leave 4 invites unused - wasn't someone asking for one? Lemme know.

it doesn't.. you can even send invite to a completely bogus address - and then click on the link using the outgoing email in your g-mail "sent mail" folder.

Gmail is the new P2P!

If you, or anybody else, had any gmail invites you just didn't know what to do with, I'd be appreciative of one..

one year passes...
is there any way to find the unread messages buried amongst the 3600+ in my inbox?

teeny (teeny), Monday, 10 October 2005 21:09 (twenty years ago)

I don't think I understand. If they're unread, won't the word "inbox" be bold and it will show the number of unread messages in parentheses after it?

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 10 October 2005 21:21 (twenty years ago)

I mean, not that that negates anything you're saying. I just don't understand why you would have messages that you haven't read.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 10 October 2005 21:22 (twenty years ago)

i DO.

Lion-O (nordicskilla), Monday, 10 October 2005 21:23 (twenty years ago)

Click Select: Unread and then apply a label or Add Star to them?

Not that I have any experience dealing with that amount of emails

Stan Fields (Stan Fields), Monday, 10 October 2005 21:24 (twenty years ago)

yeah, it's having read all of your messages that i can't understand.

xp

jed_ (jed), Monday, 10 October 2005 21:25 (twenty years ago)

I have 7441 e-mails in my Gmail account!

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 10 October 2005 21:26 (twenty years ago)

and you have read them all?

jed_ (jed), Monday, 10 October 2005 21:27 (twenty years ago)

Of course I've read them all. Or at least clicked on them. This is baffling to me. So you guys get e-mails in your inbox and then just ... don't click on them?

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 10 October 2005 21:28 (twenty years ago)

every day.

Lion-O (nordicskilla), Monday, 10 October 2005 21:28 (twenty years ago)

stuff I'll get to later, stuff I can't be bothered to delete.

Lion-O (nordicskilla), Monday, 10 October 2005 21:30 (twenty years ago)

mailing list circulars, invites, articles,etc.

Lion-O (nordicskilla), Monday, 10 October 2005 21:30 (twenty years ago)

Weird. At the very least, there's a certain amount of satisfaction in clicking on each e-mail to make the bold go away.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 10 October 2005 21:30 (twenty years ago)

b-b-but the bold serves a purpose!

Lion-O (nordicskilla), Monday, 10 October 2005 21:30 (twenty years ago)

Click Select: Unread and then apply a label or Add Star to them?

this only works for the emails that are on your screen at the moment, and the most you can display is 100.

I don't think I understand. If they're unread, won't the word "inbox" be bold and it will show the number of unread messages in parentheses after it?

I think this functionality disappears if you go for a long time without ever reading the messages. I could be wrong, though.

teeny (teeny), Monday, 10 October 2005 21:31 (twenty years ago)

Usually when I open up Gmail and have X amount of new messages, I'll click on the oldest one and then just scroll through by clicking "Newer" -- even if I don't thoroughly read each one.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 10 October 2005 21:32 (twenty years ago)

unasked question: how do you know you've got unread messages?

I'm not certain I do, but my gmail notifier extension in firefox says I have 2 and it's driving me nuts.

teeny (teeny), Monday, 10 October 2005 21:33 (twenty years ago)

Weird. At the very least, there's a certain amount of satisfaction in clicking on each e-mail to make the bold go away.

hahahaha totally

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 10 October 2005 21:47 (twenty years ago)

I have to do this at work because I cant stand having 250923485094 unread emails in my archives/inbox

Stuh-du-du-du-du-du-du-denka (jingleberries), Monday, 10 October 2005 21:55 (twenty years ago)

I found the answer!

search for "is:unread" and it will come up with all unread msgs.
