I think it notes only the last couple of purchases I ever did for me. Which is why I get recommendations for the Cult and Asterix.

1. Dr. Strangelove (own it)2. Amelie (I should see this)3. Band of Outsiders (own it)4. Three Colors Trilogy (looks good)5. Citizen Kane (loved it)6. Blade Runner (I remember not liking this when I was 12 or 13, probably bumped up because of my Philip K. Dick purchases)7. Metropolis (great)8. Solaris - Criterion Collection (I'm torn)9. Full Metal Jacket (own it)10. The Killers - Criterion (another I'm on the fence for)
So the DVD recommendations are classic, or close to it.
CDs:1. Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (feh)2. Mr. Life - Emergency Rations (hmmm...)3. Sigur Ros - () (double-feh)4. Ryan Adams - Demolition (feh)5. New Pornographers - Electric Version (own it, not as great as Mass Romantic)6. Whiskeytown - Strangers' Almanac (own it)7. Binary Star - Masters of the Universe (what the fuck?)8. Jedi Mind Tricks - Violent By Design (who?)9. The Shins - Oh, Inverted World (somewhere between hmm and feh, I don't think I smoke enough pot)10. Stephen Malkmus - Pig Lib (just 'cuz I ordered three Pavement CDs...)
I'm gonna go with Dudsville here, especially since this is followed by a bunch of Coldplay/Travis/Britpop-clones.
The books are all terrible, because I haven't entered enough to get past "oh, you own one Irvine Welsh/Alan Warner/Tim O'Brien novel, here's all of them."

That's what I hate. Plus, there's a tendency to recommend every edition of a book you already own. That's just irritating.

Head has a new book out now, Mindless: Why Smarter Machines Are Making Humans Dumber. You may have seen an excerpt from it about Amazon in Salon last month. I’ve read the whole thing now, and I can tell you it’s almost certainly going to be the most important book I’ll read all year. In essence, it is an update on Head’s earlier work on Walmart. Rather than just use the computer to dictate when your employer needs you to work, technology is now powerful enough for management to use it to dictate exactly how workers do their jobs. For example, here’s a bit from that excerpt about what Amazon warehouse workers do all day: Amazon’s system of employee monitoring is the most oppressive I have ever come across and combines state-of-the-art surveillance technology with the system of “functional foreman,” introduced by Taylor in the workshops of the Pennsylvania machine-tool industry in the 1890s. In a fine piece of investigative reporting for the London Financial Times, economics correspondent Sarah O’Connor describes how, at Amazon’s center at Rugeley, England, Amazon tags its employees with personal sat-nav (satellite navigation) computers that tell them the route they must travel to shelve consignments of goods, but also set target times for their warehouse journeys and then measure whether targets are met. All this information is available to management in real time, and if an employee is behind schedule she will receive a text message pointing this out and telling her to reach her targets or suffer the consequences. At Amazon’s depot in Allentown, Pennsylvania (of which more later), Kate Salasky worked shifts of up to eleven hours a day, mostly spent walking the length and breadth of the warehouse. In March 2011 she received a warning message from her manager, saying that she had been found unproductive during several minutes of her shift, and she was eventually fired. This employee tagging is now in operation at Amazon centers worldwide.

NO job on earth is worth that kind of harassment. It is better to starve slowly in a fetal position than live like that for more than a couple of days.
(Aimless adds Amazon to his list of companies to boycott forever.)
