Pushguy: Now, Arafat, where would you lkie to be buried?
Arafat: There.
Pushguy: What, there? That's a chip shop!
Arafat: I know.
Pushguy: Oh all right! (gets shovel out)
(2 hours later)
Arafat: I'm not dead!

Has anyone been watching the funeral? The contrast between Arafat's funeral and John Peel's funeral is truly bizarre.

Arafat's coffin crowdsurfed across an enormous chanting mob, as if at some sort of festival. Members of the mob looked like they were trying to clamber up on the coffin. They shouted and punched the air. John Peel's funeral was orderly, dignified and quiet. It just seemed strange.

Crowdsurfing coffins?!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 12 November 2004 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm going to write it into my will that my coffin has to crowdsurf at the funeral. Andrew WK will be played.

"Crowdsurfing coffins?!"

Did you ever see the clip of Khomeini's burial? That was a funeral that really got out of hand.

seven years pass...

Now he's going to be exhumed, apparently. A nine month Al Jazeera investigation has, in a Swiss lab, discovered traces of Polonium-210 on Arafat's clothes (the same radioactive stuff that killed that one Russian spy dude in London a couple of years ago) - so then his widow demanded the exhumation and now Abbas has given the go ahead.
