1) It softens the low times of life, but makes the good times so much better. Watching amazing art films, watching crappy teen movies = ALL IMPROVED. Having sex, being alone and miserable = all better.

PS - Preemtive fuck you to all you haters.

Thats 3 reasons, cheaterer :P

2) You can hear things you can't normally hear. I love that.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 02:23 (twenty-one years ago)

3) It won't kill you

2 and 3 up there are consequences of 1 xpost

Does John Coltrane Dream of a Merry-go-round? (ex machina), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 02:24 (twenty-one years ago)

3) As compared to alcohol, things are funnier and more fascinating, instead of blurry and hard to remember. Also you have more interesting (and ludicrous) conversations with your friends instead of throwing up and passing out.

7) Weed is great for romancin'. It makes it much much easier to open up and talk to someone, especially if you're nervous, but it doesn't really impair your judgment. You're chatty, you're relaxed, you're happy, and then you're making out. Many of my relationships have begun with weed (though it ended another).

14. It makes you (or me, anyway) appreciate good food. I mean sometimes junk food can taste OK high too, but a lot of times I notice how sort of fundamentally gross junk food is -- I can taste the chemicals and cardboard a lot more. But good food -- especially anything rich, but also good fruits or vegetables -- omg it all tastes soooo good, and I can pick out and identify the different flavors and components much more clearly. Good wine too, same thing. The only time I can get close to understanding all the scents and flavors that wine snobs rattle on about it is stoned.

Depends on how you define hangover, though. You smoke an assload of dirty mexican schwag out of a penis-envy-sized bong the night before, and you may not be throwing-up sick, but you won't exactly be ready for work the next day, either.

Kenan (kenan), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 05:11 (twenty-one years ago)

My problem w/ weed that is does the opposite of this to me. :-( Just a dumb mute who wants to lay on the floor. Never actually bought the stuff, have never huge into it, but I used to work overnights so I was always smokin like two hours after I woke up, which just didn't work for me. Considering tryin to get into it again and just smoking before/during a movie sorta situations, like at night when I just wanna veg out a while before I go to sleep.

i ? sauces (╓abies), Monday, 2 November 2009 10:15 (sixteen years ago)

I've said it before and I'll say it again -- it depends on the weed. Really carefully engineered and grown marijuana is a very different drug from cheap, common Mexican cornfield shit. Cheap weed makes me paranoid, uncomfortable, self-conscious, and withdrawn -- more than usual, I mean. Good weed is... goooood. I very much get what I pay for.

89. Weed is also good, in moderation, for the acutest and most irrational phase of post-breakup angst.

I wish I could find really good weed. For years I've been getting it from a friend, who gets it from a friend of his that I barely know, who gets it from a dealer she knows. I don't know its origin or strain; I don't think the dealer grows it. It's always $60/eighth, and the quality's OK though it makes me sleepier than I'd like. However, my last batch was unpleasantly dry, not to mention skimpy volume-wise. I rent and can't grow. None of my other friends smokes more than once in a great while and they don't know where to get it. I'm too paranoid to ask a stranger or near-stranger about weed, and I can't really move to another state. How could I go about trying to...increase my options?

sometimes you wind up with "pothead friends" tho. which in and of itself isn't that bad, except that when there's no erb you realize you have nothing at all in common with said person, and they may have actually swiped your silverware.

You know who you're real friends are when you smoke with them, because it just feels really warm and real and intimate and fun. But your fake friends get all weird and uncomfortable around you.

This seems half true half false. Weed can provide useful information, but you gotta take it with the appropriately sized grain of salt. Sometimes weed has made me feel weird and uncomfortable, PERIOD, regardless of who I'm with (probably says more about me and my demons than it does about how close I am to someone). And then sometimes people who want to be close friends but aren't quite yet will be made to feel weird/uncomfortable by weed, even though the friendship has the potential to become more "real" at some point. I wouldn't use weed as a litmus test for how I feel about people, and I wouldn't want others to do so to me.
