C*Taylor., Tuesday, 23 November 2004 14:05 (twenty-one years ago)

another rejection?

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

the girls there have big boobs though!

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 14:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I was going to say, Soho's probably the only place Calum might feel at home. In a clip joint, ideally.

Ol' prune face (Mark C), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 14:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I get it, you paid £2 to see a live sex show and ended up paying £50 for a can of coke? Try "Watchdog".

Den Dadaismus in seinem Lauf hält weder Ochs noch Esel auf... (Dada), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 14:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, animal porn is much more satisfying.

Penelope_111 (Penelope_111), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 14:13 (twenty-one years ago)

a can of coke for £50 is pretty reasonable though.. 330ml is quite a lot of coke!

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 14:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Seriously, fuck this.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

three years pass...

Just saw the bent-faced one from the Mighty Boosh walking down Wardour Street

Dom Passantino, Friday, 7 March 2008 13:13 (eighteen years ago)

The Pet Shop Boys can fairly often be seen walking down Dean Street.

snoball, Friday, 7 March 2008 13:17 (eighteen years ago)

Dingbod Kesterson, Friday, 7 March 2008 13:19 (eighteen years ago)

You can't move for comics round here (and the PSBs and Dingo). I've seen H Dennis, R Hall, C Morris, R Mayall, P Whitehouse, N Fielding and B Cryer in the last few months. Oh, and T Baker.

Michael Jones, Friday, 7 March 2008 13:50 (eighteen years ago)

didn't know the PSBs even hung out together.

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Friday, 7 March 2008 13:51 (eighteen years ago)

Perhaps only on occasions when they're required to appear as the PSBs?

Oh, I forgot S Philips and D Moran from my list of recent Britcom-but-not-Domcom-amirite Soho sightings. And Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen talking on his mobile in a doorway near Leic Sq. Fascinatin'.

Michael Jones, Friday, 7 March 2008 14:27 (eighteen years ago)

Walking down Oxford Street towards Clerkenwell to work every morning I used to see Den15 N0rden walking in the opposite direction. Dude is much taller than he seems on TV.

snoball, Friday, 7 March 2008 14:34 (eighteen years ago)

I saw Jerry Sadowitz in Sister Ray two days ago looking through the 50% off sale section.

Raw Patrick, Friday, 7 March 2008 14:41 (eighteen years ago)

I was walking down Berwick street and saw Zig and Zag once.

Mark G, Friday, 7 March 2008 14:42 (eighteen years ago)

I've seen Jerry Sadowitz in MVE before. Most recently I saw Mark Lamarr in the bargain basement.

I've seen Ian Hislop, Simon Pegg, Steve Marchant, various people from Dr Who, Marc Almond, Tory Suggs etc etc etc walking around here.

Colonel Poo, Friday, 7 March 2008 14:45 (eighteen years ago)

peter stringfellow.

emsk, Friday, 7 March 2008 14:50 (eighteen years ago)

I saw Emsk walking around Fitzrovia!

No wait, I didn't, I just walked past her office.

Masonic Boom, Friday, 7 March 2008 14:51 (eighteen years ago)

just now? did you see me? i was out getting lunch from the king salad man

emsk, Friday, 7 March 2008 14:54 (eighteen years ago)

Just saw the bent-faced one from the Mighty Boosh walking down Wardour Street

I walk past that bloke in Soho about once a fortnight. He must live there or something. He's always wearing a cape, and looking like he is withdrawing from drugs.

braveclub, Friday, 7 March 2008 14:54 (eighteen years ago)

Maybe he's going to Crusssh.

Dom Passantino, Friday, 7 March 2008 14:56 (eighteen years ago)

Awww I think this is one of the first threads I ever locked...

Matt DC, Friday, 7 March 2008 15:36 (eighteen years ago)

Seems oddly quaint now.

Matt DC, Friday, 7 March 2008 15:37 (eighteen years ago)

Soho is rubbish, though.

Pete W, Friday, 7 March 2008 15:44 (eighteen years ago)

i'm still toying with trying to spend 24 consecutive hours in soho before i turn 30

blueski, Friday, 7 March 2008 16:00 (eighteen years ago)

Probably about time I posted this:

http://farm1.static.flickr.com/173/374920193_741d339d42.jpg

That was about a year ago on Poland Street, where CM has his office.

Michael Jones, Friday, 7 March 2008 16:03 (eighteen years ago)

you could have punched him from there.

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Friday, 7 March 2008 16:03 (eighteen years ago)

Someone shove a caption on it and turn it into an image macro, cheers.

Dom Passantino, Friday, 7 March 2008 16:04 (eighteen years ago)

Ah, now I remember why I hadn't posted it before.

Michael Jones, Friday, 7 March 2008 16:05 (eighteen years ago)

Think CM ever goes down Lucky Voice?

Dom Passantino, Friday, 7 March 2008 16:09 (eighteen years ago)

Knock back a few of those shots with the popping candy in, then hit the mic for a bit of "Hey Ya"

Dom Passantino, Friday, 7 March 2008 16:10 (eighteen years ago)

i'm still toying with trying to spend 24 consecutive hours in soho before i turn 30

It's not worth it. Much in the same way as the standard "24 hours in Amsterdam" student trip isn't worth it really. Unless you like overpriced pr0n and overpriced pubs. Everything else you can get just about anywhere.

snoball, Friday, 7 March 2008 18:28 (eighteen years ago)

walked past bloke who presents never mind the buzzcocks earlier

braveclub, Friday, 14 March 2008 16:41 (eighteen years ago)

just off wardour street

braveclub, Friday, 14 March 2008 16:42 (eighteen years ago)

Soho can be pleasant to wander through on a spring/summer afternoon when you haven't got much to do except look at girls and famous people. Utter rubbish for going out in the evening though.

Chris Morris looks FURIOUS in that photo.

chap, Friday, 14 March 2008 16:56 (eighteen years ago)

i think he always looks like that

braveclub, Friday, 14 March 2008 16:59 (eighteen years ago)

reminds me of teh clarkson for some reason

DG, Friday, 14 March 2008 17:00 (eighteen years ago)

never having been to soho before last summer - i had a hell of a time finding a decent place to get loaded at.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Friday, 14 March 2008 17:24 (eighteen years ago)

nine years pass...

is there a good place to have a quick lunch in soho?

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 24 August 2017 13:25 (eight years ago)

Misread this as "Soto is rubbish"

Anne of the Thousand Gays (Eric H.), Thursday, 24 August 2017 13:27 (eight years ago)

come on, people

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 24 August 2017 14:46 (eight years ago)

La Esquina maybe?

Evan, Thursday, 24 August 2017 14:50 (eight years ago)

soho LONDON sheesh

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 24 August 2017 14:58 (eight years ago)

Ah!

Evan, Thursday, 24 August 2017 14:59 (eight years ago)

Your brief is too wide dude, there's literally dozens of places.

Matt DC, Thursday, 24 August 2017 15:22 (eight years ago)

Bit late for lunch in London imo

Evan, Thursday, 24 August 2017 15:33 (eight years ago)

now you're all just being difficult

quick, cheap, comfy. sandwiches fine.

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 24 August 2017 15:42 (eight years ago)

no personal favourites that fit that description? crumbs

i'm thinking something along the lines of the scandi cafe on great portland st

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Friday, 25 August 2017 09:52 (eight years ago)

Along those lines there's the Nordic café on Golden Square. I used to like Bar Bruno on Wardour Street but haven't been in for years. Here are some happy customers:

Anyway, you want to try the London Restaurants thread, Tracer. Totally different audience, totally different vibe.

Tim, Friday, 25 August 2017 09:56 (eight years ago)

i'm just not sure i want to sit down in a "restaurant" for lunch. i'm after a canteen or sandwich shop. like the indian ymca off fitzroy square. but maybe you're right.

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Friday, 25 August 2017 10:04 (eight years ago)

bar bruno looks like just the place!

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Friday, 25 August 2017 10:06 (eight years ago)

You must be starving by now
