CI SVU Orginal

The correct answer is: none of them. ;-) Homicide is the only recent crime show I can think of that is done really well.

My brief encounters with the original series convince me that its crew are very skilled at turning headlines into one-hour melodramas. Whether or not those melodramas are any damn good is another question.

I generally don't watch these TV cops and/or TV lawyers shows. Caught an episode of "Law and Order: SVU" when I was over at my parents this holiday weekend, and I must've driven my mother nuts with my comments (i.e, "Why is she talking to this cop without getting a lawyer?" "She (the prosecutor) can't ask that, that's a leading question! Defense should be objecting!") I really don't like these shows, mainly because I think they give a public which is generally ignorant of law to begin with wrong ideas (i.e., just blab to cops and everything will be OK).

I miss the one with the crazy british lady (Jane was the characters name?) they used to show on PBS/TVO, but I'll be dammed if I recall what it was. Cop Rock was underrated too.

SVU is awful. The Original is mag, tho one must beware of the "If only there weren't all these damn CIVIL LIBERTIES getting in the way of JUSTICE" subtext. The good part is how no episode has the same story behind it, & how it keeps you guessing, altho you can time the existance of new twists to the second. CI is decent, and carries slightly more moral weight. I rilly like "The PRactice" these days.

Hmmm, I prefer SVU to the new one. Of the few episodes of CI that I've seen, he just doesn't seem to be working hard enough.
