Withnail. Reminded of its greater moments on the telly last night, and by golly does it make Britain look a glamourous, decadent, reactionary, piss-filled, rock 'n' roll place.

Doh, hit Submit to quickly. Strange Brew, Canadian Bacon and Porkys too! Supposedly there was one called My Bloody Valentine made in Canada but I never saw it or proof of it.

No, it exists. As a certain band who took their name from it will tell you. ;-)

I've been told that Highway 61 is the midpart of the series between Roadkill and Hard Core Logo.

Hard Core Logo is sorta like Spinaltap, funny as hell but also like 90% of Canadian indie/punk bands in Canada. Maybe thats why its so depresing.

Highway 61 does have Jello Biafra and Art Bergman in it though, but yet I can find no confirmation of its position in a triology of roadmovies about fucked up Canadian bands (Neon Rome being involved in Roadkill).

Highway 61 is part of the trilogy. It's the same director - Bruce McDonald, who also did "Dance Me Outside", yet another film I'd recommend. Hwy 61 is a road movie, but it's not about a band - it's about a shy barber who is lured across the U.S. by wild rocker chick. I recommend it *highly*, in fact it's probably one of my favorite films. It got more play in the U.S. because of it's Canada vs. U.S. themes. I desperately want to see Roadkill, but it is unavailable on VHS in the States.
