Mr Moshammer, 64, built a reputation for the extravagant clothes he designed and wore, and was well known on Germany's celebrity circuit.

Among his clients were Austrian-born Arnold Schwarzenegger, now governor of California, tenor singer Jose Carreras and the Las Vegas-based magicians Siegfried and Roy.

This is actually very sad news -- Moshammer was, by all reports, a really, really nice guy. Grew up poor and gave lots of money to the homeless. I knew him as a celebrity long before I ever saw any of his designs, but he was actually quite good -- his ties in particular were really, really gorgeous, and I don't generally like ties.
