Is this the 2004/2005 "Cool beans!"?

donut christ (donut), Monday, 17 January 2005 04:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I like "good times". There's usually some irony implied, right?

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 17 January 2005 04:51 (twenty-one years ago)

"TEMPORARY LAY OFFS!..."

donut christ (donut), Monday, 17 January 2005 04:51 (twenty-one years ago)

DY-NO... er...

"HANGIN' IN A CHOW LINE!..."

donut christ (donut), Monday, 17 January 2005 04:54 (twenty-one years ago)

And roller skates, roller skates

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 17 January 2005 04:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, have to go dry my cellophane jacket!

donut christ (donut), Monday, 17 January 2005 04:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Thank you, Dick Lyons

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 17 January 2005 04:56 (twenty-one years ago)

(sigh.. if we lucky we got 'em...)

donut christ (donut), Monday, 17 January 2005 04:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish I knew wtf you guys are going on about.

People who say "good times" without any irony implied make me cringe, almost as much as people who say "Interact" instead of "Interac", "jive" instead of "jibe", bruschetta as "brooshetta" and kilometre as "killAWmetter". I need to change to decaf.

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 17 January 2005 05:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish I knew wtf you guys are going on about.

I wish I knew too, at least when it comes to me.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 17 January 2005 05:01 (twenty-one years ago)

"BRUNCHIN' ON BROOSHETTA!..."

donut christ (donut), Monday, 17 January 2005 05:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm guilty of at least two or three of those.

kilometre as "killAWmetter".

i'm pretty sure that's how everyone pronounces it where i live. i know i certainly do at any rate.

gem (trisk), Monday, 17 January 2005 05:10 (twenty-one years ago)

is this some more west-coast trendy shit that hasn't made it to the rest of the country?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 17 January 2005 05:11 (twenty-one years ago)

like, "what's the haps"?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 17 January 2005 05:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I first heard it from east coasters...! all of them were from NYC, so who knows where they first heard it, but...

donut christ (donut), Monday, 17 January 2005 05:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, most people do, in spite of the fact that it makes no sense. Oh well. "KILL-o-meter" is the semi-official pronounciation in the broadcast media here so I know it's not just me who feels the usual pronounciation is weird. x post

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 17 January 2005 05:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Where you do live, Bryan?

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 17 January 2005 05:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Canada

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 17 January 2005 05:14 (twenty-one years ago)

NO MOAH FUN AHN GIMES WITH THE MOIND!

(the official pronunciation of "no more fun and games with the mind". Cockney supermodels of the 80s get top precedence in determining the CORRECT pronunciation.. duh!)

donut christ (donut), Monday, 17 January 2005 05:16 (twenty-one years ago)

My point about that is: do you say sen-TIM-etter or mil-LIM-etter? No you don't, unless you're a DarYL (Mark McKinney character from KITH) wannabe.

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 17 January 2005 05:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Cool units!

donut christ (donut), Monday, 17 January 2005 05:19 (twenty-one years ago)

it's been a (LONG) while since i've seen "good times!" the TV show -- was it jimmy walker who was supposed to be the painter (ergo, that's why he has an easel in his hand)?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 17 January 2005 05:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Jive easels!

donut christ (donut), Monday, 17 January 2005 05:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Correct me if I'm wrong but thats not an easel, it's a palette.

papa november (papa november), Monday, 17 January 2005 05:24 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, it is a palette (not an easel) ... it's been a while since i've seen one of THOSE, too, i guess!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 17 January 2005 05:28 (twenty-one years ago)

"HANGIN' IN A CHOW LINE!..."

"This is, of course, the most controversial of ALL the Good Times lyrics...I had to look it up on the internet myself." --Dave Chapelle

That whole show cracked me up, the barber from brooklyn needs his own show.

Also, "Brunchin' on Bruschetta" is brilliant, well done.

Ash (ashbyman), Monday, 17 January 2005 21:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Also, "Brunchin' on Bruschetta" is brilliant, well done.

To be followed by "Driiiivin' in my Jetta."

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 17 January 2005 21:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Last week my wife and I spent the five block walk from the bus stop to home singing "HAHHNY IN A JORAY!" at each other and giggling. I know people thought we were high.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 17 January 2005 21:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Didn't Phil Hartman's character on "NewsRadio" use this a few times? Mid-to-late-'90s, of course . . .
