Sending my CV via email?

I just spoke to a man on the phone about a job that I would really like to get. He said that I should just email him my CV and he would arrange for us to meet up if he thought I was suitable. I was just going to send my cv with a brief "as requested" type email, but I am thinking, should I write the email as a sort of covering letter, detailing why I want the job etc. The bloke sounded quite casual about the whole thing, but I don't want to screw it up.

Any ideas?

Short cover letter is in order.

Of course he's casual about it, he already has a job.

Writing a short covering letter kind of email wouldn't stop you from getting the job, but failing to might.

Yes, e-mail body should be a short cover letter.

Opinions are divided as to whether you should attach the file or paste a text-only version into the e-mail (because some people don't like/don't trust attachments).

Good idea to have two or three versions: a text-only version, a vanilla Word version (that won't get messed up by wacky fonts etc.), and an optional really nice-looking PDF version.

surely it's pdfs that don't get muffed? wd docs otoh. anyway sending TWO attachments PLUS body text looks borderline obsessive. i'd go with MAXIMUM one 'tachment.

Sorry, I wasn't clear: I don't mean SEND all three, rather that you should have all three ready; it never hurts to ask people how they like to recieve things.

I go for the word document attatchment method as body text screws with ay formatting. But then, I'm still freelance, so don't listen to me.
