What's really fucked up is that that crossing-the-street kid wasn't even protesting!

Q: Why did the kid cross the street?

A: Who knows?! Let's kick his ass!

Well, this one didn't make news.

I know a guy named Daniel -- he's in his mid 20s, an Italian guy, has a beard and looks like a bit of a hippie, and has slightly dark complexion. He's also pastor at a local church. Several months ago, Daniel was sitting in front of Starbucks, talking on his cell-phone, as he often does, when two Sheriff's officers approached him and told him he'd have to come with them to the office and answer some questions.

Now, Daniel has a briefcase on him. One of the officers says, "So what's in the briefcase."
"Some papers, and a bible." he replies.
"Oh yeah? Open it up. Let's see it." Sure enough, there are some papers and a bible. "You're lucky it wasn't a Koran," the officer says.

As it turned out, someone had called in and said there was this "terrorist-looking guy" who had been "taking pictures on his cell-phone". So the cops asked to see his cell-phone.

"Take it out," one said. Daniel reached for his pocket, "Slowly!" the officer said.

After asking him about his political views, his ethnic background, etc. for a little while longer, they let him go.
