So the Avatar novels (NOT the comics) are great; the second Kyoshi book is an utter banger.

Don't know if you're implying that you don't like the comics or just haven't read them, but I thought the first few stories written by Mike and Bryan (and Gene Luen Yang) were excellent, with beautiful art, and dialogue really capturing the characters. Not as good when they handed it off to new writers and illustrators though

The art in the comics is indeed gorgeous, but I found the writing in them to be a lot flatter and more shallow than the shows.
